Thanks folks, I'd also like to add one more question for my research: when you consider the costs, is there much difference between the two (Community, University), or should it matter?

University

When considering the two, keep in mind that at a University, you will have a more diversified group of people. This is a great way to open y ourself to new thoughts and new cultures as well. At a Community College, you meet only people from your town.

Community Colleges have a great ability to get you into the chosen field of study you want quickly. At a university/College, you will be required to take a group of "Core" classes in English, Science and Match whether you are majoring in these subjects or not. This is part of the degree program you choose. Community Colleges allow you to pick classes you want and USUALLY have no core class requirement.

I studies two years at a private college and then switched to a state College. I fully recommend this as it gave me a very very wide scope of new ideas. Instead of the same teachers for 4 years, I had two sets over my 4 years.

I hope this helps.

It depends on the student, the family, the $$$, the local community college, and the universities the student has in mind.

Parent former student, to many variables to just give any answer. 1 do you have any idea what you want to study, if so it might be best to get started where you want to finish, if not your core classes can be taken just about any where. 2 are both schools the same distance away, are you ready to be away from home are they ready for you to be gone. 3 is money an issue4 where will your friends be, 4 how are the schools viewed, party school good school, nothing more than high school great school. many things to think about

Community College

You can take the same classes at a cheaper rate and transfer them to your University.
