If you want to check if two fractions are equivalent -

1) factor the numerator and denominator and see if there are any common factors that can be taken out, or

2) convert both to decimals and see if they are equal.

Example = 126/2772 - is this equivalent to 1/22?
Factors: Factors of 126 are 2, 7, 9 - of 2772 are 2, 2, 7, 9, 11. If you take 2, 7, 9 out of both numerator and denominator you are left with 1/ 2* 11 or 1/22, so they are equal.

Decimal: both equal 0.045454545... so yes
