It is the stupidest idea I have ever seen. It is truly a disgrace to the belt and everyone that ever held it. All these punk kids thinks that it is so cool. Ooooo it moves. Those are the same idiots that are impressed with pop-up books.

I agree that it is really childish and stupid in design. The WWE title is so old and goes back to several great big names of the past. To make it all sparkly and spin around is really childish.
Actually, I think any changes to the belt to personalize it is rather dumb. Austins, Rocks, and now Cena's.
I just can't see anybony taken seriously with a sparkly spinning belt on thier waist....Undertaker?...nope......HHH..nope. Only Cena.
The old WCW title (Smackdown title) is a great looking belt. Look like something a true champion wears around thier waist.

The spinner idea came about in the middle of '04, as a way to put a nail in the coffin of the Booker T-John Cena rivalry over the United States championship. It was never even considered as a REAL belt, it even had Cena's name painted on the center plate.
With the success of that belt, the WWE decided to up the antae in the JBL-John Cena rivalry of '05, by making the "old school vs. new school" theme a "belt for belt" theme, with Cena holding the new, hip-hop themed WWE championship belt(spinner, platinum, canary diamonds and all).
That belt was also originally set to be a "Cena only" belt, but that changed with RVD.
When RVD one the WWE Championship, it was set to change the style before he lost it to Edge, however, drastic script changes had to be made when RVD was arrested on July 3, 2006 on drug charges. They had to strip RVD of all of his gold, so that they could explain his absence as being the victim of a "screwjob", courtesy of Paul Heyman. With little time, the creative team scrapped the whole new belt idea, and simply replaced the WWE logo spinner in the middle with a "Rated R Superstar" center plate. That concept lasted a mere month. A new design is slated to be used, not only to commemorate Shawn Michaels win at WM23, but to commemorate WM itself.
-My thoughts? Simple. The WWE championship has been changed constantly over time to reflect the current culture and/or champion. Stone Cold got his, Hogan got his, the "Attitude Era" got it's belt, ect. So why are we fussing about a belt that represents current culture? Diamonds everywhere, platinum everything, that represents the indulgences of the wealthy, the indulgences of hip-hop culture, the indulgences of the youth. I personally don't give a damn if they paint the belt pink and put sequins on it. A belt is merely a status symbol of in-ring sports(and sports entertainment).

IMHO, this is a slap in the face to any of the former champions and it cheapons the meaning of the title.
