The dinosaur. (jk)

The Whale shark was long thought to be oviparous (an egg 14 inches (36 cm) long was found in the Gulf of Mexico in 1953; this would be the largest egg in the world). Recently, pregnant females have been found containing hundreds of pups, so, Whale sharks are viviparous, giving birth to live young!! Newborns are over 2 feet (60 cm) long.

The largest egg laying bird was The Elephant Bird which is now extinct. Next is the North African Ostrich, then the Australian Emu.

Whale sharks do not lay eggs. It was once thought they did, from an egg found back in the 50's, it has since been proven wrong when a female whale shark was killed in 1995, she had 300 pups inside her, alive and ready to be born.

The bird that lays the largest egg in proportion to its body is the kiwi from New Zealand. You would expct it to lay an egg about the same size as a hen's egg but it is six times larger. It is about 20% of the body weight of the kiwi.

Sorry to disappoint you but it is a Emu. Its eggs are the third largest of all birds at an average 584g (after the Ostrich eggs at 1100g and Emu eggs at 637g).
