i do no longer locate it offensive...what I do locate offensive is whilst human beings say they're Dominican or in spite of whilst they have been born right here interior the states. I see the prefix of African or German or Italian and so on greater as an adjective describing history than nationality. yet this is somewhat the subject isn't it...maximum folk don't be conscious of the version between nationality and ethnic history. via definition the notice nationality ability: The prestige of belonging to a particular usa via beginning, beginning, or naturalization. yet you ask maximum folk what their nationality is and that they allow you to be conscious of the place their mom and dad or ancestors are from and that they go alongside with that even nonetheless a lot of them have on no account even BEEN the place their predecessors are from...flow parent.

Thats not new.
Jamaicans always say Halfrican instead of Arfican.
BoB Marley also said that Black Americans are half African and half American; thus he referred to them as Hal-fricans.

I, being African-American, don't find it offensive, but I think that it only further draws attention to you from a race standpoint, verses you as an individual. If prompted about your race and I would say I am black and white, and leave it at that. Why announce anything or coin another word to force people into a group?

I find the term African American to be offensive. It further separates people and separation leads to hate. Not to mention that white people from Africa, who were born in Africa, are not considered African American. Go figure!!!

I actually have a friend who has a licence plate frame that says "Halfrican and Lovin' It!". Did you really make that up yourself? My friend got it a couple years ago. His co-workers had it made up at the mall. He thinks it is great.

I do because I am french. Why should you have an option on a racial selection when I don't have anything in common with filthy Americans. Why, when I am an immigrant, do I have to be rounded up together with truck driving beer swilling shallow hillbillies.

Offensive, no. Silly, yes. Why label anything, it only segregates us more. I'm a human..who cares about my racial background.
