I am 14 and everwhere I go there is a phone. It is driving me nuts. I will only get one when I am 26. Phones are banned in school but it doesn't help much. What the prefects and teachers don't see can't hurt them. I openly admit taht I have no phone and I get laughed at but you know what, I DONT CARE. Phones are making us all dumber and dumber.

speak for yourself little boy, the true fact is they are very handy to have in case of an emergency, when i was going to my work early one morning last year i saw a man falling on the path, i stopped my car and went over to him and he was not breathing, i phoned ( yes from my mobile ) for an ambulance and they talked me through what to do for him, i got him breathing and kept him breathing until they arrived which took 11 minutes, that man was gravely ill but survived, i got a visit from the man himself and his wife thanking me for what i had done, now if i did not have my phone on me then that man would most certainly have died, still think they make people DUMB? i don`t think so and i bet that man who`s life i saved would not think so either.

that's a pretty smart observation from one so young.
yes i too have noticed that it is now too easy to communicate with people. you can now talk to people wherever they are.
when you meet up with them you have nothing to talk about, although for those who are immobile for whatever reason they are very helpful and for emergencies too.
but, on the whole you are spot on, i'd say technology, (not just phones) is making us dumb and lazy.

They are here to stay. They are very annoying, but no sense getting yourself worked up about it. It is bad for you to stress over things you cannot control.
