Why is it that inevitably we elect people that do not represent us in the proper way (voted by a majority) and we allow them to continue to put us in more jeopardy and they keep spending our tax dollars on these ignorant measures of homeland security?
We the People can take care of our own? It is only common sense isn't it? Where does all this fear come from and laziness?
Are we that feeble? Are we that selfish?

Well, a lot of the American public want the Government to handle our health care , schools , the rebuilding after a disaster , don't forget pay for us somewhere to live, our food ,water etc...Because some people don't know how to save money(you know, just in case something happens),what can be seen on the news (but only cable, not main stream liberal media), which political watchdogs can be on radio, etc.. etc..etc.. And think about it , Do you really want to put your family's saftey in the hands of a bunch of people who honestly do not believe this country is in any danger from radical Islam.. Please.... Even Muslims who do not support ji had are warning us and the general concensus of this country is "Oh those are just scare tactics"... Really.. So why are they screaming "Death to America" and begin the anti-american propaganda at a young age. Children look forward to becoming marters by becoming suicide bombers and killing the Infidels and Jews... So yea, a lot of Americans are too lazy even to ask why schools can teach Islam but not Christianity, why there are Islamic leaders and organizations in America, Canada, Europe, and Australia who seek to replace the U.S. Constitution and the laws of all free societies with Islamic law,Why do we not push for the deportation of Islamic leaders in mosques, Islamic schools, and Islamic centers that sit on American soil, and preach hate for the United States and for Americans... The answer...we are too lazy and worried about what is politically correct and forbid we hurt any feelings.... So no thanks, the American Public is too dependent on Government , you can tell that by them not questioning the socialist agenda the Democrats are promoting, big government and more governmental control. Most have no clue how to be self sufficient let alone protect this country...

I really like the liberty of speech that now we have in this nation, but I also have specific necessities i want to elevate my son by, and i might prefer to let him watch tv and movies and such that promote the values i would like him to know, and keep him away from violence, language and such that i do not like. So far as things like films go, I think like i will be able to filter that out to what suits our family... The one thing I rather have a challenge with can be public obscenity or some trouble the place anybody else is making an attempt to make a decision for me what my child will likely be uncovered to. I would not say that's being afraid of some thing, it is simply making selections about what my youngster does or would not have the working out and capacity to handle properly.

Some suffer from the belief that "my one vote won't make a difference" so they stay home on election day. Unfortunately for the rest of the nation, there were LOTS more of people who did the same thing, so the majorities with a prior agenda and clouded views get to make the choice for the rest of us. A sad state.

The thing about the two major parties is that they are both the party of fear. Both use fear tactics and the public eats it up. Terror, illegals, global warming, corporations, drugs, guns, tobacco, etc. But for some reason the Democrats act like it's the Republicans doing it all. Also because of that, more restrictions and laws are being set up by both party, and neither one has yet to abolish what they go against. Now they use the opposing party's laws to also help bring new laws instead of aiming for exactly what they wanted in the first place.

I voted for Bush. He represents me. You didn't vote for him because you believed he did not represent you. We took a vote and you lost the last two times. I never voted for Clinton; he did not represent me. We took a vote and you won. I accepted that the majority of the people spoke, didn't want the guy for whom I voted, accepted him as my President, too, and moved on. I don't understand why, when you loose a vote, you think we are somehow loosing freedoms. I don't understand when your candidate doesn't get elected, you insist that the guy who won must have rigged the election. None of that makes sense. It is not "common sense." Are you that selfish?

As for spending money on what you call "ignorant measures" of homeland security, it is better than what we had before, which was nothing. There is no freedom without security.

This is our generation that must fight for the rights we so deserve, BUT would rather vote for American Idol or MySpace than go to the polls ( what a bother!!) We will lose our rights, especially we women and the right to choose if we take the easy way out again and again , as we so willingly do!!

It is not laziness, it is our laws and the PC stance. Since by law we can't as a group stop a bunch of young, middle eastern men from boarding a plane, we have to depend on the government. But because of political correctness, money is wasted on searching little old (white) ladies for knitting needles. Then the list goes on and on, federal identification cards, passports to get back into the country from Mexico or Canada while the borders remain open, allowing criminals and drug dealers to freely walk in.

Yeah, this country has some stupid politicians and unfortunately, it's the citizens who end up paying, not the illegals or undesirables or the possible no good doers.

We elect those people because we are only given two people to choose from, and both of them are usually worthless. Unless an armed revolt takes place or something, that's not going to change.

I don't feel I have given up anything. I am quite happy with the money I make, I don't like paying taxes but that is how it has always been, no matter who is President. We the People need guidance and stability b/c if we were left to "take care of our own" I think America would get out of control. Just be happy you live in America, there are tons of people out there just trying to get in.

Yes, I'm afraid 'they' are. It's mostly due to a great brainwashing that has swept over the country. I wish everyone would see the movie "V for Vendetta." I don't want us to get to that point.
