Because society is making fun of people who is not intelligent. We discriminate people whom we think are dumb.
That prompts people to try to proof they are smart.

Because people want to believe that they are smart or "know it alls". My uncle is an idiot and all he does is talk about things he just doesnt know. He thinks he all that but hes not, in his mind he thinks he king of the world and that people should respect everything that he says. In reality hes a college drop out, with no life, no hobbies, no friends and works in a family business.

I think when people are insecure they try so hard to make an impression that they are smart.
But I believe that every person is gifted for something...and is intellegent in a field that someone is not.
It depends for what field we are interested. And when you are interested you learn more about that field.

I see that all the time. I think it's because they have low self-esteem or self worthiness and so they think if they act smart, people will look up to them.
Self-love=lacking
Acting/Showing off intelligence=thinks it will accomplish self love and respect from people
In the meantime they just end up making a fool of themselves.

Because they don't feel people will accept them as they are so they automatically defend by making themselves sound better. Something's missing and they are afraid of getting their ego hurt.
