what is the difference between antivirus software and internet security ,should we have both in pc?

The internet security you reference, is it Norton Internet Security and the antivirus software, is it Norton AntiVirus?

If so, the Norton AntiVirus, is included in the Norton Internet Security Software Suite:

Detects and blocks spyware, viruses, and adware

Automatically filters spam and dangerous phishing email
Blocks Web sites you don’t want your children to visit
Gives you control over all incoming and outgoing Internet traffic

You only need either one, but I wouild suggest a comprehensive package to give the most protection to your system and files

A basic antivirus software program scans for known viruses, such as trojans, backdoors, etc. and in some cases other forms of malware (adware, spyware). Some newer antivirus software comes with basic firewall and port blocking capabilities; yet compared to an internet security program, the firewall and control of incoming and outgoing data is very limited.

In a basic nutshell, the antivirus program cleans your system, while the internet security prevents the malicious software from getting to your system.

antivirus will only protect from viruses and popular trojans. but internet security packages will have virus, spyware, spam, firewall all in one... just so u know a good one is bitdefender internet security which is like $49 for 2 yrs

Anti Virus is part of Internet Security which also includes Firewall Adware/spyware scanner and removal Spam blocker pop-up blocker anti-phishing software
not all Internet Security programs include the above but you can include them yourself
