Kidnapping? Attempted murder? Give me a break! Any lawyer who can't get her off with a very light sentence is not worth anything. Who knows what she had planned? She sprayed pepper spray into the car but missed Ms. Shipman. She broke down in tears before she could do it. The materials like the plastic bags and rubber tubing is circumstantial at best. This will be watered down considerably and she will recieve counseling. She can most likely forget NASA as her employer.

What you or I or anyone else may think is totally irrelevant. The State of Florida has charged her, and that's that.

But to use your own words against you: "WHO KNOWS WHAT SHE HAD PLANNED?" That sentence cuts both ways, skippy. The State of Florida obviously thought she had something like kidnapping and murder planned, and from what she had in the car with her I'd say they were right.

As for what happens to her with NASA...I'll take an educated guess and say that she's through with NASA. Her flight qualification status has already been suspended; she's scheduled to undergo psychological testing which will invariably show that she's not mentally capable of performing any further astronaut duties, so NASA will cut her loose and turn her over to the Navy, her parent service. The Navy will put her on administrative duty pending the outcome of her trial in Florida. In the mean time, she can do one of two things: stay in the Navy and hope the Navy doesn't charge her after the state of Florida is done (and yes, they can do that, and NO, it's not double jeaopardy), or she can resign her commission and leave the Navy. Once the trial is over, if she's found not guilty it's up to the Navy to say what happens next - unless she's resigned by then. The Navy can either charge her or not, but my military experience tells me that the Navy most likely will...either that, or they'll give her the opportunity to resign in lieu of prosecution. But if she's found guilty, she'll serve her sentence in Florida and then the Navy will come after her.

Any way you look at it, she's totally screwed her life up.

Time will tell.

I believe the charges will be greatly reduced, she will make a plea deal that includes intense counseling, and that her career at NASA is indeed over.

She may get a book deal and a visit with Oprah out of it.

I would NOT want to be at her family's Thanksgiving dinner table. Divorce is likely.

I'm not sure why we're all so interested. Maybe it's the diaper.

I wish her well.

ANY CHICK THAT IS WILLING TO DRIVE 900 MILES WITH A PAMPER ON SO SHE WON'T HAVE TO STOP, JUST TO CONFRONT THE LOVE INTEREST OF EX BOYFRIEND NEEDS TO BE IN JAIL. THEIR IS NO TELLING WHAT SHE HAD PLANNED. SHE DID NOT BREAK DOWN CRYING SHE MASED THE GIRL IN THE FACE AND THEN WHEN THE GIRL GOT AWAY SHE WAS ALSO TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE AREA. WHY WAS SHE CARRYING ALL THAT STUFF. SHE OBVIOUSLY HAD A SINISTER PLOT IN HER MIND. SHE LUCKY THAT SHIPMAN DIDN'T DECIDE TO RUN HER OVER A COUPLE OF TIMES.

No, the police in Florida, get their orders from the local commissioners, and governments, who are more concerned with raising revenue than the administration of justice.
The system consistently fails in Florida not because of the police, its because the civilians who make the laws the police enforce put their socialist revenue generating laws, over real crime.
So many things tend to be ignored or blown out of proportion in Florida.

She should charged with whatever crimes her acts warranted. As usual, second guessers pop out of their holes with their liberal socialist views in an attempt to garner sympathy and support for this alleged confused soul.

note the detective's "findings" below in the source bar. Pretty skimpy if you ask me considering the act was over and she was leaving the scene.

She should be charged, yes. She won't get convicted, if she has a good lawyer.

But I certainly hope she is forced into a padded cell. She did a nutzo thing!

To me, it sounds like she is in need of a nicely padded, secure room somewhere...with plenty of diapers for her needs.

They're not really going to go after her. They expect to lose that case.

NASA will keep her because they want to be seen as helping one of their number who is going through 'issues'.

She won't do any time... but she'll never go near a Space Shuttle again.
