If you get a pure bred, you will need to make sure they are health certified. (Make sure they have been cleared by a Vet. for hip problems because the corrective surgery costs a lot.)
The big cost is just long term feed and care. I knew a man that had a St. Bernard. That dog FILLED up the bed of a longbed Toyota pick up, and ate 5 pounds of dry dog food EVERY DAY! So, even if you have a huge yard, a big enough vehicle to take the dog in, and a big enough house to let it inside if you wish, the food bill will be high.

Whatever else you do, DO NOT go to a pet store to get your puppy. Find a breeder on the internet or in your area. An AKC St. Bernard to be used as a pet should run around $300-$400. If you are looking for show material, double or triple that. Be very careful of any price that seems too low. Make sure you get a 72 hour health guarantee to get your pup to a vet.
Any reputable breeder will offer these things.

I would say anywhere ranging from about $600- $1,000 would be the range a St. Bernard would fall in. Be leary of people offering one for less then $500, they probably are not good breeders and have not had there dogs tested for genetic problems. With large dogs hip dsyplasia is a major concern, so ask if any of their dogs have it.

they are expensive. i have a newfie and she was about 400 bucks and we knew the breeder.. find out if there is a st bernard breeder in your area and see if you can help at their kennel for a reduced fee on your dog.. i co owned a championship winning dog by doing that. i kept her and fed her and taught her stuff and they paid for the entry fees and vet and grooming. it is an option you could look into

My theory is, if you have to ask how much a St. Bernard will cost, you probably will not be able to afford it's proper care and feeding.

It will cost an arm and a leg to keep, let alone buy.
