What was the big controversy with that? I always thought they were just using their freedom of speech.

I thought so too, but apparently ignorant rednecks only believe in their own freedom of speech, not others. I believe that if they were men, none of it would've happened. I exercised my own freedom of speech by having a Toby Keith CD burning party. Seems to me the Dixie Chicks won in the long run...they were right about Bush and the war, and with very little airplay they've done quite well with their latest CD. I'm listening to it now. In fact, they've won over a lot of new fans who wouldn't be caught dead listening to country. The latest CD is fantastic and I can't wait to see them perform at the Grammy awards!

I find it funny whenever a Liberal bashes a Conservative its free speech but when a Conservative does the bashing it is hate speech. With the Dixie Chicks they have every right to say what they did, however the people who disagree also have the same free speech right to in turn criticize what they said. There was no controversy at all.

Sheet, i imagine Willie and The Dixie Chicks receives about a similar airplay. not adequate. i wager people took it some incorrect way. If radio grow to be to play The Chicks the listeners grow to be going to boycott the stations.I desire they could commence a boy cott on Rascal Flatts extremely. What Natalie reported did not indignant me on the least and that i voted for President Bush two times. someone needs to inform that gal above purely what Natalie reported that bashed our u . s . a .. ask your self if she watches Hollyweird videos? Lord is time-honored with of actors not in any respect bash the country and the president. massive DEAL what Natalie reported, i'm kinda embarrassed that i'm from a similar state as Jesse Jackson and Dick Durbin. on account that I wrote that i wager i will get lack of life threats now. John Mellencamp has many of the kookiest politics and beliefs in his head. He reported on the Charlie Rose educate that we grow to be not in hardship-free words incorrect going into Iraq yet also Afghanistan. the guy flat out reported he grow to be antagonistic to all wars in spite of if attacked. on account that i'm kinda user-friendly going, I purely shook my head and then performed Paper In hearth off his Lonesome Jubilee cd as loud it ought to flow.

Freedom of speech; plain and simple. They have a right to voice their opinions just as George Bush does. Many a soldier has fought and died to provide them with that right.

I respect The Dixie Chicks for taking their stand. I might actually sample some of their music as a result.

No controversy--Just another Weapon of Mass Distraction where the Righty's use their ability to control the media headlines in order to keep the relevant story's out of the limelight.

Chimpus Incompetus---ooooh that's good.

it was them using their freedom...but it became controversial because of who the dixie chicks target audience is. they play to the southern, mostly conservative fan base, which supports the president unconditionally. therefore it sparked a big controversy because it went against what many of their fans followed. i think it was brave of them. there is a movie coming out soon that documents those events by the way.

They were, no one has attempted to intervene with their freedom of speech.

It's just that the people who didn't approve of what they said, practiced the use of their own freedom in choosing what music they would buy.

It's all just a very lovely example of the power of freedom.

Like all wannabe tyrants, Bush hates and fears freedom of speech and has tried his best to eliminate it.

Fortunately for America, Bush's effort turned out to be a failure, just like everything else he has ever attempted.

They used their freedom of speech on foreign soil to disrespect our President. Think that was what caused much of the problem. They have every right to say what they said. Just as the people that didn't agree with them had every right not to listen to their music and express displeasure with their message. As far as the people in the south are concerned, there are probably some that agreed with what they said. They're just too courteous to say so.
