I have a wide variaty of friends from "punk" to "ghetto" to "nerd". Lately I've been thinking about what makes people choose who to make friends with and who not to befriend. What do you think, why have you chosen your circle of friends? Do all of your friends act and dress like you do? Are the people that are more like you better friends with you then the people who are less like you? (I may quote you for academic purposes, however you will remain annonymous unless otherwise requested)

We choose the people we allow in our life because they meet an unmet need that we have. It could be a positive or negative need and done with us not being aware of the need. They could also be a subconscious reminder of someone in our past that we were involved with emotionally and we are looking to fill that void with what we wanted from them.

I believe that people tend to befriend the people that they feel comfortable with. When people feel comfortable, they tend to truly "be themselves". So essentially, your friends are the people that you can be yourself with, flaws and all.
