When I hear about Queen Elizabeth II of England in the news, I have noticed that there is not mentioning of a husband. I was wondering if she is currently married and if so to whom? Also, if the queen is married, why do you not hear about the husbands name in the news?

Queen Elizabeth is married to Philip, the Duke of Edibburgh. He is the Queen's second cousin, twice-removed. He was born Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark, and goes by the title of Prince Philip now. He can not become King of England.

Queen Elizabeth married her 2nd cousin ONCE removed, i.e., 3rd cousin. Both of their great grandmothers were daughters of Queen Victoria.

Philips grandfather was offered the job of King of Greece. He took it and kept it for a number of years until Greece decided to become a democracy. Philip was then Prince Philip of Greece and Macedonia. THAT was his name. His mother was Princess Andrew of Greece, a nun who converted later in her life.

Philips uncle, Lord Louis Mountbatten, the last Viceroy of India under Queen Victoria (he RULED India for Queen Victoria) invited young Philip of Greece to move to England and live with him. Philip did and gave up his titles and priveleges to Greeces Throne, to become a British citizen. He then entered the British Service in the Navy and did exceedingly well. He (as "family" especially of Lord Mountbatten's nephew) was well received by the Royals and it wasn't long before he and Princess Elizabeth were in love. They married and she had Charles before she became Queen. He was given the title of Duke of Edinburgh and it will one day be given to Edward and his wife, Sophie. When Philip became husband to Princess Elizabeth Windsor, they actually had to "convene" a group to figure out Prince Philips last name. After a few weeks, it was determined and he changed it to his uncle "Dickie" Mountbattens last name of "Mountbatten."

Prince Phillip is her husband, he's of the Greek royal family, though his last name is Mountbatten. He is in the news a bit, often in relation to the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme (one of his titles), though more usually because of his hilarious gaffes. He doesn't think before he speaks, or so it seems...for instance he once told a group of British students in China that they should be careful in case they became slitty eyed. He just seems to open his mouth and his brains fly out

Philip is actually of German descent. One of his ancestors - a german prince - was offered the throne of greece (or the hellenes) to rule as king and he accepted. All of Philips sisters married German nobility, not Greek.

Mountbatten is the Anglicised version of Battenberg - an obviously German name.

She's married to Prince Phillip. He's not in the news all that much because he's really not all that interesting. (No offense, but he just isn't.)
