Hi again! Hey I had the same decision to make while attending college and my mentor professor put it bluntly. Police usually have a very low mentality and their jobs are basically very boring...well in America anyway.

Being a doctor of medicine has it's gratifications both in healing and the satisfaction of being around very intelligent people which keeps your esteem up. It of course would depend on what type of doctor you become as to the gratification you receive. From my experience, I met a dermatologist who had the most satisfaction because he rarely dealt with diseases, death, and grieving families. He concentrated on healing skin disorders which were usually pre-cancerous or for cosmetic improvement. He was making $285 for the 15 minutes I visited him and you couldn't get an appointment for 6 months, he was that desired....he made a LOT of money.

My advice would be to continue with school until reaching a level where you have a doctorate and choose a profession in medicine and if you didn't like it you could always teach college. Don't waste your intelligence on being a cop!

Choose the career that excites you the most, if that's being a police woman then your family will have to learn to accept that and support you.
Yes, it can be dangerous but that's part of the job and look at the people you can help. Doctor is also a nobel profession but the choice is ultimately yours. Go and check them both out and choose with knowledge and your heart, don't ignore either.

To the guy a pair above me: In my years of an officer right here at my 30 member branch, we've had one officer convicted of relatives violence (he slapped his spouse at a gas station). He became quickly fired from our branch. As on your state. i might pick to make certain your numbers. How do you define each and every of the time? there are in all possibility 30,000 law enforcement officials in Florida. despite if one officer a week around the state became convicted of DV, that an exceptionally small share of the police rigidity. anyhow, to respond to your question. There are some police departments interior united statesa. that don't carry firearms. those tend to be college departments and maximum of them have the two accompanied firearms or are engaged on doing so. In police departments that carry firearms (the overwhelming majority around the rustic), you haven't any longer have been given a say in count. in case you pick to be a cop, you have to be prepared to hold a firearm and use it if needed.

Only you can decide what you want to be. If your heart is set at being a doctor, then be a doctor. If your heart is set at being a police officer, then be a police officer. I'm a nurse and love it!!
