It's info that someone doesn't want anyone to know but me. He is indisposed at this time but he had told both me and his lawyer that I would know the password. What I need to know is how I go about trying to find it. I'm afraid that he may have set it up where after I try 3 passwords and they are wrong it could lock me out for good...so any suggestions

That's just it TravisX something happened before he could give me the password however he had told me and his attorney before hand that if push came to shove I could figure out the password.

I'm not creating a drama...this is what it is. Not everyone on here bullshits...I'm terminally ill and to be quite honest I don't have the luxury of time to play Sherlock Holmes.

My godfather in trusted me to make sure this file and it's contents were taken care of and that is all I am trying to do. So if you can't offer any constructive help please don't waste my time with your smartass the remarks...

I think maybe I said this wrong...he didn't ever give me or his lawyers the passwords. He intended to at a later time. What he said to me was I would be the only one who would be able to figure it out and since I've known him since birth there is really no telling what it could be. Factor in the chemo, radiation, pot, and narcotic pain meds and I'm having a little trouble concentrating...anyway thanks for at least trying...

Most people use a family name or something that's close to them. That and birthdays or age sometimes a combo of the both. If you have access to his computer then you can look for the file on it. That might be a better route for you.

If you are suppose to know the password for this file, then either wait until this person is not indisposed and ask him or contact his lawyer and explain that you have forgotten the password to open the file. If you were present at the time this document was being discussed, then perhaps the lawyer will recall you as being there and would consider giving you the password. Without the password for this file, you are almost out of luck trying to open the file.
