G: Steve Nash - great passer, excellent clutch shooter
G: Dywane Wade - see 4th quarter vs. Cleveland (24 pts)... 'nuff said, D-Wade is the best in the business at scoring & getting to the line when it matters
F: Shawn Marion - The Matrix is insane, he will do absolutely everything
F: LeBron James - He's King James, what more can I say?
C: Emeka Okafor - The best shot blocker in the NBA right now. Great rebounder and low post scorer.
My 6th man would be Gilbert Arenas. Kobe is too much of a ball hog and a head case for me to want him. Of course, I'm not sure I understand your question. If you want the team with the top starting five, then it's Phoenix -
Stoudemire, Diaw, Marion, R Bell or Barbosa, Nash... no one keeps up with the red hot Suns!

Dwight Howard, for one because he averages a double double,
Steve Nash, because of his pin point passing skills,
Gilbert Areanus, Micheal Redd, and Dirk Nowinski, because they all can hit the three, dirk can also rebound, Areanus can play both guard positions, and Redd because of his strong play and consistantcy. These five would make a great combonation, and notice i did not take any two players from one team, i would have taken Amare, but i had to take nash, because he is too good, it's like the guy gots eyes on the back of his head, how else does he know Marion, or Amare is close behind him on the fast break.

PG: Nash
SG: Wade
SF: Odom
PF: Dirk
C: D. Howard
Here's why I left off Kobe & Garnet.
Kobe is a shot first player. Even with his small changes this year. I know Wade could handle playing on a star filled team better. With Garnett, I picked D. Howard at C, he's just a younger KG right now so why do I need two of them, when I could get a Triple threat with Odom, some who can get me 16-8-6 and never complain.

the question is who would be "your" starting five.....so why are all these people posting 25 pages of stats to back their answer up as the "best" starting 5?
all time:
PG: Magic
SG: Jordan
SF: Larry Bird
PF: Charles Barkley (yeah i said it)
C: David Robinson (only bc he was my all time fave).......realistically it would have to be wilt the stilt
