It is a 300 gallon wet/dry with a 1200 dual overflow box and a 1250 pump. It has 10 gallons of Bio balls and sump capacity of 35 gallons.

I have a 125 gallon tank and I like that this wet/dry has a sump capacity of 35 gallons. That is about perfect since I do a 25% waterchange weekly and that would make it easy to fill up. I could just fill the sump up instead of filling my tank up. I don't know much about wet/drys so I was wonering if It would be to big.

In a way that is a trick question. Theoretically, there is no such thing as too much filtration. The only concern would be the water flow. Is the current created too much for the fish and other inhabitants to take on a 24/7 basis. As this can be influenced so much by the contents of the tank and where everything is placed, it's really impossible to say without trying it.

You can never have "too much filtration". The only thing you might want to watch is how much current there is. That all depends on the type of tank(Saltwater/freshwater/Reef).

Otherwise, having too much filtration won't hurt anything. It will allow you to put a few more fish/critters in the tank than you could otherwise.

I have a 125gal reef tank with a 72"sump(82 gallons) and a 20gal refugium hooked to it. No such thing as over kill on filtration.
