I'm 20 wks, just had ultrasund yesterday and they could not tell. My hushand went through a very bad depression when or first baby was a girl, so I would really like to know before hand, so he can get "get over it" by the birth. The dr. say the heart beat is a girl (wifestale), and it is pretty low on my right side. Lower then my daughter was at 20 wks. It is moving around a lot for only 20 weeks, more then my daughter was (if I'm remembering right). My sister says if you get headaches it's a boy. I'm just trying to get as much info. to see if I can figure out. Is a boy high and girl low?? Any ideas?

Again, the concept of having to "cope" with the gender of a baby is bizarre to me. Why can't people be glad for what they have? And keep in mind that even in recent history, and still many people today, have babies all the time without knowing the gender ahead of time. Box of chocolates, honey.

I am carrying my son low his heart rate is fast I am showing more in the tummy and not on the sides. I don't get headaches. My baby moves alot and has since 20 or 21 weeks. Therefore I say you can't tell unless you find out by ultrasound. Because if I would have listened to all the old wives tales I would believe I would be convienced I would be haivng a girl but I know without a doubt he is a boy.

What is so depressing about a girl? I am sorry that is judgemental but come on its not the end of the world...It just sounded weird. I know men of certain ethnic backgrounds hold males in high regard (Chinese, mexican cultures for example) Yes I was bummed about having a girl at first because I really wanted a boy but I was fine after awhile. I didnt go into a depression over it. I am pregnant again and it really doesnt matter to me now what I have. Yes I have a spot in my heart that wants a boy but I go over that stuff
All the things they say will tell you if it is a boy or a girl are old wives tales

Telling gender from low or high or heartbeat is just wives tales...the only way to know is by ultrasound...unfortunately that is just something you'll have to wait on.
As for your husband going through a very bad depression over your first child being a girl....ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!?!?!?!?! I'm sorry, but what kind of man only thinks thats a boy child is worthy? I'm having a girl and my husband is over the moon he's so happy...it's a child...boy or girl. I don't understand how in the world someone can go into a deep depression based on the baby being a girl......He is a pathetic man.

There is no way to tell if you're having a boy or girl, unless you physically see on the sonogram. Everything you've mentioned (the position you're carrying the baby, heartbeat, how often it moves, etc.) are all wives tales and hold no water. You just have to be patient and wait until the next sonogram. Hopefully by then you'll be able to find out.

Pay the $200-$300 to have a 3D ultrasound after you're 28 weeks pregnant.

Sorry but I'm still trying to understand why you would conceive another child with a man who was depressed over the birth of a ...DAUGHTER . That's ridiculous , and very immature.
I'd tell him what is REALLY important , that it's healthy .

we have two little girls, and yes my hubbie did want a boy, but as soon as he held it in his arms he didnt care, and he had another princess. i am pregnant again with number 3 and my hubbie says he doesnt care, as long as its healthy.
wait til you are like 28 weeks and pay to have another ultrasound, but seriouslt a baby is a gift, girl or a boy.

I have 4 girls ... My mom had 8 boys after I was born.... All of my girls we're really high... Moms boys we're really low....
The best answer I can give ... ya might think I'm crazy but... If your belly is shaped like a basket-ball it is a girl....If it is shaped like a foot-ball and really low than it is deff. a boy .....

Thread a needle with white thread and hold the needle over your stomach but don't let it move. if it rotates in a circle on it's own it will be a girl. if it swings back and forth on it's own it will be a boy.
