I just purchased a new HP with an Athlon 3800+ dual core processor. When I try to run my games (Madden 07) they do not work properly. EA SPORTS told me that I need to run the game in compatability mode for Windows XP. When I do this the game will not load. I have been told that it is b-cuz i have a dual core and that i need to disable one of the processors.

You can change core utilization in BIOS (f2/f5 at startup), in one of the sections in there. But I doubt thats what it is, I think its Vista in general because it is a buggy pos. To run something in compatible mode, find the target launch .exe file for madden> right click it, select properties> and the last tab should have compatibility, where you can select an earlier OS.

Whomever told you that you need to shut down one core on your CPU was full of sh1t, it's simply that Vista is so new that a lot of the old application won't run on it, your processors got nothing to do with this.

I have never heard of shutting one core down, most likely it is not compatible with vista, there are a lot of things that dont run with vista untill they have sorted the driver compatibility problems out. my isp software wont run on vista,i have to download a different version to run on vista, i was going to get vista but now i will wait untill it is all sorted out

I seriously doubt its the processor. YOu might have to run it in admin. Do what the guy above me says but also run as administrator. Check online to see if EA released any updates for it
