Go to the local library and they should be able to help. Just ask a librarian.

Most newspapers keep online archives only back to the early or mid-1990s. For anything before that period, such as 1985, you would most likely have to go to the newspaper's office. They should have copies archived on microfilm or microfiche.

One of the newspapers I worked at in Illinois had microfilm archives all the way back to 1924. Almost every newspaper in the U.S. has a similar system.
