Perhaps you are not aware that Goleta is within the boundary of the University of California, Santa Barbara, a most prestigious University.

The quaint, and unbelievably expensive town of Santa Barbara is about 15 miles due South on the 101 Freeway.

I should point out that the 101 freeway is the only access, North or South, that residents of Goleta must use to drive to other communities.Depending on the time of day you might use the 101, you could encounter heavy traffic.

On the plus side, traveling North to Santa Maria, San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles etc., you will traverse some of the most beautiful undeveloped country in Southern California. All these cities make for enjoyable weekend excursions. Also Amtrak stops in Goleta.

Depending upon where you are relocating from, you might find housing prices exorbitant. Check out Zillow.com for appraised values of homes in and around Goleta.

Good luck!
