The Lynda La Plante stories that were serialised on British TV: Widows (ITV, 1983), Prime Suspect (ITV 1991) and Trial and Retribution (ITV 1997) were brilliant. And, going back to the 1970s, a series that ran for some weeks and stayed in my mind for a long time after they'd finished, was 'Roots' - the story of author Alex Haley's family line from ancestor Kunta Kinte's enslavement, to his descendents' liberation. Ah, yes! Although I hate violence in real life, I too make a point of watching The Sopranos!

Very difficult as I watched some a long while ago.
I think that Upstairs Downstairs and the Onedin Line from that era.
More recently Morse, Cadfael and Tour of Duty.
I find the glorification of thuggery in the Sopranos has no appeal whatsoever.

I've never seen that. Probably won't. I don't like "mob" shows. I really think that ER is a pretty decent drama. I love Grey's Anatomy but it is still too new. All of the Law & Order shows are good and so is the original CSI. St. Elsewere was excellent and so was The X-Files. Boy, am I wishy washy!

I have to say Greys Anatomy............. The second series has been phenomenal. Along with Snow Patrols Chasing Cars in the closing scene, makes the series finale the best thing I have seen. And it bought major tears to my eyes too. I am in love with McDreamy!!!!!
