It is true that taller women have a better chance at modeling success, but that is changing. The agitation over the weight-issue in modeling has brought a lot of attention to the unhealthy and discriminatory character of the modeling industry. That said, there is more to the issue than just height. All you can do is call all the agencies you can and take a stab at it! It is a VERY competitive industry, however, so do not get your hopes up too high. But you'll never know if you can do it if you don't try, 5' 5" or not! Good luck!

Find an agent near you and apply there first. I am shorter than you and I modeled for a local photographer during high school. I made $10 an hour clear back then...23 years ago! lol So who knows what the going rate is for local photographers! Get your portfolio together and resume letter typed up then just start sending them out. Who knows, you just may get lucky! The ones who give up...never get chosen. Good luck!

You might be able to do some local work for department stores, trade shows and the like.

If your goal is fashion runway work then you have zero chance. Sorry, but better to know rather than deceive yourself.

You have the same chance as if you were 5'5" and trying to play pro basketball. And remember that Kate Moss is actually 5'7".

Yes, remember Kate Moss is 5'5'' too. She is a successful model! Try ford models. If you have a stunning look you might get lucky!

It all depends on your looks. There are many types of models, not all have to be for the runway.
