I have used Ebay to sell collectibles and Yard sales to get rid of usable items from my accumulation. Does anyone know of any other avenues to take to clear out 20 year of accululation?
We are talking mostly good usable item. Any ideas?

Yard sales can be such a hassle. What I once did was contact a local used items shop, second hand store nearby. I had organized the stuff into about 30 boxes and made an approximate list of things. The guy came over, I handed him my list, he looked through a few boxes and asked what I wanted for the whole lot. Because I really wanted it all out of the house, I gave him a low set price, as long as it was cash. He handed me the money and then I proceeded to help him load his truck. That was the easiest way for me. Keep in mind, this was after selling most of the older/antique/collectible items on eBay that I thought were worth the time. The items I sold to this guy were nice items but I didn't think they were worth the time or cost to list on eBay. If you have loads and loads of items, it may be worth it to transfer everything to one room and at least see what someone would offer you for the items. As you probably agree, yard sales can be such a hassle especially when you have a nice item only marked at 25 cents and then someone asks if you'll take 10 cents for it. It's just not worth it sometimes.
Another option; if you have any usable household items such as dishware, clothing, flatware, pots and pans or any other everyday living items, you might consider finding a local woman's shelter (or any helping agency) to donate them to. There are often women who are in a bad situation and need to start over but have nothing. In these case, many shelters provide these donated items to the women and their families to make starting over a little more affordable.
Good luck to you!

Yes.
Goodwill Industries employs the handicapped to repair broken or unusable items, then resells them in their stores.

The same for the Salvation Army, which incidentally, is one of the most efficiently run organizations in the world. Both will offer to pick up your items directly from your home.

One other possibility: run an ad in your local newspaper listing all your items and offer them as a 'bulk sale only,' no cherry picking. If you price it fairly, it will sell.

Good luck!

Donate what ever you can to Goodwill, get your $450 tax deduction (keep your receipt!!). Local consignment shops will take some of the collectibles off your hand. ( you earn 1/2 or less on them). Recycling centers, scrap metal yards - get a small amount of money back, schools - if applicable, craigslist-yard sales, bring them to a school carnival and host a ring toss game with them. if the ring lands on the item, they get to keep it. Money earned can be donated back to the school (cash donations = tax deductions, if you loss money on the item sold and you have a receipt, that's business loss, more deductions)

I have requested myself the exact same paradoxical question, solid one Autumn! I have come to the proper that i don't sense solid about eliminating stuff any better. I even haven't any garbage at cutting-edge so what I have i will save, & at the same time as it really is wiped out, i will recycle it. Then i will sense solid about it, because i should be doing something sensible. lol, the major note for the pronounced type ought to were "rid", ha ha ha!

Donate them and save yourself tons of work while getting a tax deduction and helping other people. If you buy TurboTax deluxe, you get included with it the ItsDeductible software which gives you a good idea of how much you can deduct. It is way higher than I would have guessed.

donate them to good will or salvation army, make a list and put a reasonable price on the items ( socks jeans $10, tee shirts $5 etc...) have it signed by some one at the donation site and you can use it as a tax write off at the end of the year.

Get a stall at a flea market and sell the stuff. If you just want to get rid of it and want to give it away, give it to a church or organization that helps the poor people that have nothing..
