My son is 12 weeks old and only takes breast milk. I tried givin him the formula but he screamed his head off and wouldnt take it. He takes breast milk from the bottle very well. He feeds a lot (6 oz at every feed) and so i havent been able to produce enought to store. Any suggestions?

Go get yourself a breast pump, and pump every two hours RELIGIOUSLY...it will increase you milk supply...

My baby goes to daycare everyday for nine hours..and all he gets is my breast milk. I pump at work for him and bring it to daycare with him the next day.

Have you tried formula? It's friggin sick...aside from the fact that breast milk is best...formula tastes gross!! I wouldn't eat it...I hardly expect my baby to eat it!

Really ...try a pump before you get into formula again.

Also drinking "Mother's Milk" tea daily (available at any healthfood store near you or online) , or brewers yeast, or 1 to 2 beers a week (if you arent' opposed) Really Really boosts your milk supply...like double the amount in three days time...it's amazing!

You just need to store a couple for the first few days after that what you pump during the day at work you can take right in to the daycare...

I also noticed...my little guy eats more with me than he does at daycare...so when I started working..I only had like 3 spare servings in the freezer...now...I have like 20 at all times

And no my son isn't starving at daycare either...he's a little pork chop...he's 16 weeks 26 inches tall and 18 pounds!

Make sure you have an effective pump. And remember...your son is more effective in getting milk from you than any pump on the planet...I used to "steal" half servings from both breasts and then let him go to town...that way I had a little collection for storing and he still got fed (I have no doubts he was getting enough because he never seemed cranky and never stopped growing)

I realised that in trying to store the milk, once I gave my breasts sometime to rest, I could get an oz or two every 1/2 hr or so.

It may not sound like much but every little bit adds up.

I had freezer bags and labeled with date AND time.

As an alternative, try mixing in a little formular and water into the brast milk- eg. he takes six oz so you can do 5 oz breast milk and 1 oz formula.

A lot of the times the problem is the taste or the temperature. So once you have the temperature right and most of the formula taste hidden, he should be okay.

In three weeks time you can have him down to about 3 oz breast milk and 3 oz formula.

Good luck. This worked for me because even though I was able to bring my son to the office, breast feeding was a bit difficult since we have a communal lunch room and I would have to lock everyone out. After about three weeks he gave it up altogether.

Either rent or buy a hospital grade breast pump. They work alot better than manuel and most eletric pump.

Also pump often to increase your milk supply.

Your breasts will produce more milk if your body thinks that there is more demand for it.

He probably doesn't like the taste of the formula. Try different kinds. If that doesn't work, try adding an ounce or two of pear juice to the formula. It worked like a charm for my son who refused formula. Pear juice is very low in acid and will not harm your child in any way, nor will it curdle the formula.

you have to feed more often to produce more, so just pump the milk into bottles more often and switch breasts so you can get it all out of both

Have someone else besides you try to give him a bottle with formula. My son refused to take a bottle from me when he was breastfeeding but he did take a formula bottle from his father. Good Luck!

Are you only feeding expressed breastmilk or are you nursing too?

How often are you pumping? Can you add in more pump sessions in order to build up a little freezer stash before you return to work?
