There are plenty of things you can do to help knock a tenth of a second or so off your time, but if your best time is a 4.7, you will never run a 4.3

sorry to bare bad news but anything sub 4.4 is god given and cannot be reached through any type of training, supplements, steriods, nothing.

Just keep working out, sprinting, long distance running and you should get a little faster. If you play football your coaches can help you design a plan to work on in the offseason. Just don't get your hopes up that you could ever run faster than a 4.5 and that is pushing it. Good luck though

Someone mentioned joining the track team. This can be good but it can also be dangerous as getting your body in shape to run track isn't nessicarly the best thing when you want to be in shape for football. Just keep working, don't take the people that say you can't do it to heart. Just let it be a chip on your shoulder to prove them wrong and do it. Plenty of people told me I couldn't do many things in my life, and so far I've been prooving them all wrong, especially these fools on the internet.

Work hard, eat healthy, stay a responsible family member and friend and then work harder. Try to make work and training fun while still keeping it serious. It keeps your motiviation balanced. The negative influence of the people that say you can't with the positive influence that your having a good time.

The best way to get faster is to run more. Good track coaches can teach you some techniques in order to make you cover ground more efficiently. After that run run run. In a few years you will be faster.

Hard work and proper training pays off. You do not have to cheat with substances.

Oh yeah if you score 15 touchdowns scouts don't care what u run. Practice on getting in the end zone.

No matter how hard you train, some people are just gifted and able to run very fast. You'll never be able to cut down .4 of a second on a 40. Believe me I tried. I went from running a 4.71 as a high school freshman to running a 4.49 as a senior. I ran track, lifted weights, ate light, trained, trained and trained some more.
You maybe be able to cut down a tenth or two but unfortunately you won't be able to run a 4.3

Just take longers strides. You do realize that the different between a 4.7 and a 4.3 is less than a half of a second. You really dont need to do anything special, to run a half second faster.

Walter Payton used to run hills on the off season. Lots of people shuttle run. They say it builds speed. Weight lifting wise do squats and power cleans. Also swim on the offseason.

Try sprinting/running with resistance to increase speed

Examples: Run with Weights and Run "Parachutes", a drill when you attach a small verison of a parachute and sprint

I am assuming are in schoool? If this is true, I would join the track team. They will teach you some good techniques that will definitely improve your 40 time. Now the only things I can recommend is to weight lift. Strictly legs though. Do some squats, knee lifts, calf curls ect.

Hope that helps

Sprints with weights are a plus.Depending on your position,Speed is not as important as quicknes. If you can juke your opponent to the ground it wont be hard to outrun him.So i would say work on laterial movements and quick drills.
