I found the Snickers commercial funny, and I'm a bi woman with a wife. What I found not funny was on the website, they showed alternate endings where the guys beat each other up and football players acting all disgusted. Why is prejudice being used to sell a candy bar, for crying out loud?
I didn't see the robot commercial, so I don't know.
In general, I prefer more speech to less. I privately boycott--like, I think the Chips Ahoy commercials are gross, so I won't eat them--but I'm not going to make a big thing of it unless I really have a reason to. I can't stand it when the "morality" groups get a commercial yanked that I think is funny, so I don't want to be like them.

I find this question insulting to everyone who is overly sensitive, and I want it removed immediately. After that I want a public apology. After that, I want monetary compensation for the mental anguish reading this question has caused me..... Naw, I'm just kidding.
People are overly sensitive. Nobody can make jokes anymore, without the ever present fear of some Religious group banging down their door, or some special interest group screaming in their ear.
Ya know what? I find it insulting that they rarely use tall people in these commercials. Do I complain and demand that more tall people get used in commercials? Hell no.
I think people make too many cracks about Atheism being bad. While some of my fellow non-theists might cry out, and go sue happy (and I might add that some theists do the same thing) I say "Live and let live."
We live in a world where one has to be able to handle a little bit of a joke. We need to be able to laugh at ourselves from time to time. The problem comes that some groups (and some of them rightly so) have a persecution complex. They have been beaten down so much, that even the slightest thing to them can feel like the beginning of something bigger. Gay people, for example face almost constant antagonism. They are mistreated by the government that is sworn to protect them (you might recall a small statement that says "We hold these truths to be self-evident that ALL men are created equal.) Gay people are beaten for being different. Hell, some churches which are supposed to be spreading the love of their Jesus, maintain sites like http://www.godhatesfags.com/ which actually sings the praises about how good it is that some gay people got killed.
What is my point? Why do I seem to be rambling on and on on to different views? Because simply put, some of these people ARE oversensitive, but with good reason.
When you hear something like this happening, I want you to try a little experiment. Imagine, if you will, that the government has just told you that you are not allowed to marry the love of your life. Now imagine, the love of your life beaten, and killed, because they are different from the majority. Now imagine that you get sneers, and jeers, and insults, everywhere you go, because people hate you for the way you were born. Imagine putting up with all of that for years, tell me how sensitive you will be when the television starts to spew forth the same anti-you message that you have been listening to for so long.
Picture all of that, and perhaps... just perhaps... You'll understand, just why some people are as oversensitive as they are.

more of the problem was the web page where you voted on the ending. One of the endings was one guy hitting the other with a wrench. With all the problems with gay basing this is in my opnion pretty tacky.
Granted when I saw it on tv I laughed my butt off. But then I was watching two homophobic's and not thinking of gay guys. Maybe then national homophobic group should be upset.
and yes people are to sensitive.

The Snickers commerical, to my eyes, mocked homophobes, so I really don't get the uproar.
And yes, I think people are getting overly sensitive.

Short answer yes, people are oversensitive. As a person who suffers from severe bouts of depression, I find th GM commercial humerous. Special rights groups are always looking for things to complain about to get tv time.

Well with the snickers commercial, there were people grossed out in the commercial which some felt would promote intolerance. Probably because you're not gay, it doens't affect you.. I guess we'll have to wait until someone does a commercial with ebonics and see then what you think.

Why can't we do this backward and make them take shows like Will & Grace, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy off the air. Those shows promote premarital/extramarital sex..... Snickers just didn't want to lose money on a boycott that would SURELY happen if all the homosexuals got together.... I thought the snickers commercial was funny. I have nothing against homosexuals. I wish these kinds of organizations would help in other areas of concern in our society. Such a waste of resources.
"Why is prejudice being used to sell a candy bar, for crying out loud?" BECAUSE IT'S FUNNY!!!!!!!!! THAT'S WHAT WOULD PROBABLY HAPPEN IF TWO STRAIGHT GUYS FOUND THEMSELVES IN THAT SITUATION!!!!!!!!
I don't understand why homosexual's can't understand the way straight people think but expect straight people to TOTALLY understand how a homosexual thinks.... REVERSE DISCRIMINATION Period!!!!!!!! I'm sure if you think about it for more than 1 second you would realize that!!!!!!
If the average person thinks these commercials are funny, than that means if you don't think it's funny then you are NOT AVERAGE, that's not bad, you're just not average, don't punish the rest of us because of it.

Yes, people are getting TOO sensitive now. Come on People - Toughen up! It's so ridiculous it will get to a point when we are so politically correct, the only way to tell a joke will be: "A perons and a person walked in a bar...." Geesh!

we are turning into a bunch of pansy *** cry babies who cant take a joke and dont dare want to hear a joke that could even be related to them. people wonder why we have hate crimes, its from the pressure and BS we have to put up to be "politicly correct" with everything and everyone; and it builds up to the point to where it just explodes and causes an even larger problem in a repetitive like cycle.

i think people are overly sensitive about things these days... because no one wants to talk about whats important in society.... they would rather not see it then see it and accept it and deal with it
