For producers of better cars than the Brits, you used to be able to say any country in the entire world. Now to say better, you can't say American and especially you can't say German as they are so over engineered as to be ludicrous. Pay an arm and a leg to buy and have to mortgage your home to fix when a German car breaks - and today they break more often than anything but Fords. There are essentially 9 car companies in the entire world as they are owned by this company and that company and partnered with the other. After that 9 there a a few "boutique" companies like Ferrari - but only a few of those.
In reality today's cars are all the same - buy and take your chances and British cars are as good a chance as any other.

The Germans and the Japanese. However, when it comes to either high brand models such as Aston Martin, Rolls Royce and Bentley, or other speciality cars such as racing cars (most formula 1 and A1 racing cars are produced in the UK) - I think that the Brits are still the best.
I think that the general lesson is that mass produced cars in the lower and middle range are better made by other nations. However, those cars that require a higher degree of innovation, quality, luxury or specialisation - the leading edge still comes from within the UK. Something that is not widely known.
Unfortunately its no longer the case for the much heavier duty type vehicles such as lorries, truck, construction and agricultural type vehicles, although they are still made here.

If i hear somebody else bemoan my country and make out that foreigners make better this and that i will scream.
If the germans are such great engineers why are all their ww11 ships at the bottom of the ocean.
Same goes for the japs.
All there engineering is stolen from us(ALL OF IT)
and don't ever forget it.
Im not saying they haven't improved on our designs(u.k.)
The rotary engine in mazda rx7-8 (example)
All racing car design is done here in the u.k.(even ferrari)
Subaru rally car designed here.
And finally.
The u.k. dosen't have a car industry any more.
The lotus elise/vx220 vauxhall.
The germans can make a better car than that.
I don't think so.
Or do you think that the merc c class right hand drive that is made in east london, south africa is a quality german car.
Just look at a history book on cars to see who made what.

DEPENDS WHAT YOU WANT,
Class - Rolls-Royce Jaguar
Speed - Bugatti - Bentley
Engineering - German
Style - Ferrari
Outrageous - Lamborghini
Reliability - Toyota/Nissan/Honda
Innovative - Mazda (rotary engine)
Skoda - Complete turnaround in reliability.
Lada - Total unreliability
Muscle cars - Dodge Ford etc
You could make lists like this for ever, and as most manufactures move production to what ever country gives them the best productivity/wage demands then then its a bit academic. Personally my favorite car is the Bentley Continental. So what, I can dream cant I. !!!!!

And the Japanese! We always buy Nissans, and we've never had one break down or cost any money apart from routine servicing and tyres.
