"30 Years Too Late"
Such a book has just about zero chance of being published because the subject matter is so old, unless you can put a new spin on the story. You're going to need to interview the players, coaches, and management of the two teams. Unless you're an established writer, those guys aren't going to give you so much as a minute. Also, you can have the best title ever, but it's not going to sell a book to a publisher; the writing and subject matter will. Further, the publisher has the final say on the title in most cases.

Pinstripe Lightning
Ron Guidry held that team up early in the year until the rest of the players kicked it into gear. I went to a game he pitched (June 17 I think) against California (as they were called then) and he struck out 18. It was the first time I saw the fans all stand up and chant when a batter got 2 strikes on him. Now we see that all the time. Everyone will remember Bucky Dent's 'pop-up home run' but to me Louisiana Lightning set it all up. Without his performance the Boston Massacre games would have been just another late season matchup.
You could also do some play on words with lemons (from a Sox fan's angle?) considering it probably also helped that Bob Lemon replaced Martin that year.

Sparky Lyle wrote the Bronx Zoo about the entire season....It was a great book from a players perspective. How about Bronx Zoo a Fans Perspective : The Story of the 1978 Yankees

The season reminds me of an old wise man that made one of the most famous quotes........how about ........"IT AIN'T OVER TILL ITS OVER".....the 1978 season revisited!..........of course the Sox come back at as with 2004..........but that was 3 games....this was 13.5 and the Sox had to win what the last 8 games in a row just to get to the "Bucky" game........by the way the game winning run was by Jackson.....Buckys homer put them ahead but it was really Jackson homerun that ended up being the winner.....GO YANKEES! STINKIN RED SOX!

Rally of the Rival
Just a quick one off the top of my head from a fellow writer. Thought it might fit since it would be hard to say that there is a greater rivalry in baseball and the Yankees had to rally to make up the ground. Good luck with your book!
