Yes, lots of people do. They just don't advertise their lifestyle a lot, so most of us are not aware that communes do exist. I have a friend who lived in a Christian commune (not of the fundamentalist type). It was a bunch of people who prayed together every day, and to some extent ate meals together and looked after each other's children. Most communes have some kind of shared belief or goal that acts as the motivation to live together. In my friend's case, it was the praying. But there are lots of other types. You should find one that suits you. But beware, communes that exist just for practical reasons tend to fall apart, as well as those that are too idealistic. Also bear in mind that living in a commune will have its ups and downs, no different than living in a nuclear family arrangement. It is a myth that communes are always idyllic and noble, however it's also a myth that they "don't work". It's also a myth that communes are "communist". Well, a few are, but most communes allow people to pursue jobs outside just like the rest of society. So "community" is a more apt description than "communism". What I like most about communes is that your children group up surrounded by a large "family", which is especially valuable in modern society of low birth rates.
