I think you should be honest. I wouldn't start a job off with dishonesty. Just inform them that you are still a bachelor and let them know you will have more time to invest in their company. I can't imagine any employers who wouldn't like to hear that. Thank you and good luck.

Why would you want to start off a place of employment with a lie. Nothing good can come of it. What if you make some friends there. Are you going to be a loner there, not get involved in any personal parties, or events. Be honest. I think if you are qualified for the job, you will get it, regardless of your marital status. Remember, honesty is the best policy.

Wearing a piece of jewelry to counterbalance a stereotype that does not equate to job success? Wear a ring but if asked tell the truth. When jobhunting playing the stupid games is a significant part of the battle. Lying would be a HUGE mistake.
I have not heard of this particular discrimination or even thought of it. But I believe any thing is possible by the crazy human resource gang.
I was told once that one person based all of their hiring decisions on your shoes.

You can wear the band and they can't ask you during the interview if you are married.
However, going into a job under false pretense is never a good idea. They will have access to your personal records in order to background check you and it won't be hard to figure out if you really are married.
I say present yourself as a well grounded, mature, emotionally stable person and that says a lot more than being married... Look at that astronaut lady... good luck :-)

I think it's a bad idea. If you are not honest upfront, then you are going to have to lie for the rest of the time you are there. Besides, recent stats. show that more people are living together as opposed to getting married. More children are born out of wedlock as well. Shouldn't be an issue.

Ok I think it's a great idea but if someone asks to meet your wife say that you don't have one- your dead grandpa gave you the ring when you were 15 on his deathbed and you wear it every day as a reminder of your beloved grandpa. If they don't like the idea of having a single employee there's nothing they can do about it after they hire you and your story will make them sympathetic!

what will happen if one day you find that special someone and want to get married- all of a sudden you become divorced. What if that special someone is a co-worker. I think it would be better in the long run if you do not pretend. lying is always bad.
