If I found 50 quid in readies in a field of course i'd keep it. If it was in a wallet or purse or had any form of id with it, no i wouldnt, i'd hand it in.

Sorry, I'd keep it. Don't believe those who say they would hand it in.
I found a purse in the shopping centre last year, it had credit cards, money, personal items etc, INCLUDING PIN NUMBER to bank account. (Found this out when I took it to police station)
I was called later by the woman only to be told..."oh yeah I'm always doing that" No thanks, nothing. These people don't deserve help, next time I'll not bother. I wasn't asking for a reward, (not likely where I come from anyway) but a thanks very much would have gone down well. So next time I find anything of value I'm sorry but it's mine.

I would hand it to the police and I think the likelihood of anyone reporting 50pound is slim and would be re-united with it later anyways, so it would be a sound investment and leave me with a clear conscience.

I would try to find out if I could use it to buy shares in a speed camera...the dividends would be out of this world..
