tourism creates the multiplier effect..so quite a lot:
tour guides (the obvious)
waiters, chefs, managers at cafes
reception staff
people selling souviners at shops and stands so sales staff
operators of machinery if the tour is around environmental sites
security guards
marketeers
advertisers
researchers at the tourist site (historians, scientists etc.)
hotel staff and managers for hotels and hostels where toursist may decide to stay.
if the site is ineed of repair, construction workers
gardeners if there is a garden
people to maintain the property
technicians for electronics and machinery

and for the people who work at the tourist site
doctors, dentists and nurses at local clinics or hospitals
councillors to 'govern' things (or act as targets for us to throw rotten veg at)
post office staff
you will the need schools for the kids of the families thus teachers, head masters, receptionists, librairians, cleaners
shop assistants in local shops e.g. newsagents
bank people
builders and construction people building roads and stuff.
the occassional barbers, supermarket staff, lollipop ladies, chemists etc.
priests for local churches
bus drivers and train operators for bus stations and train stations

Then for the informal sector:
prosititues (in inner city areas)
shoe shiners
car washers
tricklets (to transport people)
taxi drivers (should be in the formal sector but the way they act and drive they should be in the informal sector)
theives (to steal tourists' stuff)
drug sellers
forgers
pawn shop owners for selling stolen goods

you are pretty much building up a whole new town or city once you have a tourist site.

I think the main thing as for the government is foreign money coming into the country. There wouldn't be many B&Bs .etc Jobs in the travel industry also suveneir shops would not be there. 99% of people in blackpool would be on the rocks, not making it. Every resort town ect. Every job there relies on tourism even Supermarkets as they have to feed the poeple who provide direct tourism goods so the jobs are in a complete cycle of everything and everyone. Break the chain anywhere and it all collapses. Don't sweep the roads and tourism stops, hotels stops, suvenier shops etc stops.no need for planes, trains or coaches, are we on 1/2 million jobless yet for not having a roadsweeping machine all move away to find a job, no point in having a supermarket here now. If your confsed so am I lol.

Well....I guess it creates hospitality jobs (hotel workers, bar staff) as the most immediate effect. But it has a knock on effect - people want to be entertained where they go, so other jobs spring up (selling merchandise, local industries experience higher levels of trade so they expand) Also more jobs in the transport industries....airports, cabs as people need to get to and around these new resorts.

It's been a while since I studied anything like this, so I've probably missed loads out :(

Ok Think where the tourist stays - hotels, caravan parks, guest houses. These will all employ staff.
Think about what the tourist buys - this will create jobs in shops etc.
The goods also need to made therefore this will create industry.

So many. Think about all the people involved on a holiday that you might have been on; people who work in hotels, cleaners, waiters, managers, receptionists etc. people who work in transport (aeroplanes, trains, boats and coaches). tourist guides, holiday reps, restaurant staff, entertainment staff, people who work in shops or staff local places of interest for visitors. Does this help? the list goes on and on. I am sure you will be able to come up with many more if you think about it.

it creates lots of jobs mainly in retail because of the money that tourists spend in the area. sorry if thats bit obvious but there are really a lot of jobs created, just think of somewhere you went on holiday and where you spent money. good luck!
