Not directly bu5t cabbies get slammed for bieng the worst divers although most motorists overlooked the fact it is due to their own impatience with cabbies.....cabbies get slammed whenver you have to wait for more that 15 minutes for one.......cabbies get slammed for not being able to drop you at he exact spot after you give them only a 10 metres reaction time....and the same impatient motorists will be slamming them after they swerve and jam stop just to drop you at the exact spot that you want.....cabbies are always threatened by their passengers who will complain about almost anything to tthe LTA......

good question!
i think it has a lot to do with societal classes in singapore. no matter how much we all want to admit there are no discrimination of classes amongst the people in singapore, i think there are. the blue collared workers, taxi drivers included are considered lower classes in the middle to upper class group of society. it is well and good when people don't discriminate and respect each other but often there will be people who do. so there, we have people who 'look down' on our taxi drivers just because they are less educated, make less money than some of us. but do they know they work just as hard as most of us for their money.
but then on the other hand, and not forgetting, we have the errant, rude, uncivilized drivers who are the rotten apples in the barrel that causes us to despise taxi drivers in the first place!
