Ignore the idiots above, Cardiff's a great place.

Go check out the Millenium Stadium and Cardiff Castle.

There's not heaps to see in the City Centre itself, but if you're only there for a day, go see the castle, then on the open topped bus round the city, then over to the Millienium Stadium. Get a tour if you can, the stadium is amazing.

The good thing about Cardiff is almost everything is within walking distance, except Cardiff Bay, but thats only a short train ride away.

For eating, there's plenty of places. The Brewery Quarter on ST Mary's Street probably has the best quality of resturants in a close vicinity to each other. Wander round and see what takes your fancy. Avoid the Hard Rock Cafe, because its crap in Cardiff. The Old Orleans further up St Marys Street is much better. There's also an all you can eat chinese called China China, but that place gets mixed reviews (there's a better one in the Red Dragon Centre in Cardiff bay called Oriental Garden)

For nightlife, the most popular place is St Mary's Street. Thats where you'll find the biggest mass of bars, pubs, clubs and resturants. The Yard and Clwb Ifor Bach (known as The Welsh Club) are the nearest "welsh" places you can get. Other than that its your standard city nightlife scene. Cardiff for the most part is friendly enough, but you can get a lot of binge drinkers down from the valleys, so try and avoid the chavtastic places like Jumpin Jaks and ONeills.

You might also want to check out Mill Lane or Greyfrairs Place if you want nightlife thats a bit quieter.

If you get very drunk, you have to go up Chippy Lane (Caroline Street, next to the Brewery Quarter) for a kebab or some gravy/curry sauce and chips. Tony's and Dorothy's are the best places up there.

Have fun!

Cardiff is the place where i live and i love it we have everything here that you could ask for.

Sight seeing - You could go to Cardiff Castle which is right in the middle of our twn centre so you can do some shopping on your way there. Visit Cardiff Bay which is fantastic since they redeveloped it all you can go and see the Norweign Church which is beautiful. Or visit the massive Millenium Stadium just up the road from the Castle. There is the open aired sight seeing bus which will take you on a tour all around Cardiff.

Eat - So many restaurants so little time the best places that i would got to our in the Brewery Quarter on St Mary Street there is Thai, Portugese, American you name it.

Night Time - St Mary and down the bay has some of the best pubs and clubs you can think of open until the early hours of the morning. My favourite are the Lava Lounge, the Philarmonic, 10 and Life.

The must though for anyone that comes to Cardiff they must visit Chip Alley alias Caroline Street after a good night out the best chips and kebabs ever.

I'd just have a wander round the centre during the day. The museum is excellent if that's your sort of thing and the castle is also right in the centre of town. You can do a tour of the Millennium Stadium, which is apparently good... then there's Cardiff Bay, which is a fun place to go... there are loads of eating and drinking places, plus the new Millennium Centre and National Assembly building. St Mary's Street is the obvious place to go in the evening, but Tiger Tiger is also really popular.

I am a Cardiff lass and I love living here. Once you are in the city centre you will be surrounded by cafe bars, restaurants, pubs and clubs so you will have plenty of choice to eating and drinking. You have to go to the Millenium Stadium, the Castle is beautiful - however watch out for the peacocks!!, Cardiff Bay is beautiful and you can go on a short boat trip, the sightseeing buses can take you to the Bay from the castle. The Bay has lots of cafe's, restaurants etc. The Wales Millenium Centre and the Welsh Assembly Goverment buildings are worth taking photos of. Also down the Bay is where Torchwoods HQ is based and I believe that they are doing tours for that aswell. You may even see some of Torchwood being filmed.

Under any circumstances miss seeing the interior of the castle. It's mostly an amazing Victorian folly built by the richest man in Britain, the Marquess of Bute, no expense spared. Then there's the new Cardiff Bay development (including the Welsh Parliament). On the outskirts there is the Welsh national history museum at St Fagans and Castell Coch, also built by the Marqess of Bute.
