I think michigan is definitely the better team in football. They have been in the top 25 for the past couple of years. They also have had some pretty good players there that have won the heisman trophy. For example, Charles Woodson and Desmond Howard. As opposed to MSU who are hardly ever in the top 25 and don't have any heisman trophy winners that I know of.

Now when it comes to basketball, Michigan State is definitely the better team. They always recruit top high schooler's and seem to just win alot. Whether it be good coaching or just good team play(possibly both). Not to mention that MSU has won more National Championships then Michigan.

You are generally correct, but MSU is slightly down in bball this year and U of M is improving in bball. U of M was third in the country in football obviously, so that says a lot. Check the Big Ten basketball standings for the rest of the month and you can see how the two compare.

Traditionally, you're correct -- the Wolverines have been the football powerhouse and the Spartans have dominated the cage. There have been a few exceptions here and there, though. Wish I could remember the exact years, but MSU won the Big Ten and a Rose Bowl in the early-to-mid '90's, and I also believe U of M took the Final Four in the late '90's...

Michigan is much better in football, but right now MSU is better in basketball. But sometimes Michigan is good at basketball (look back at the Chris Webber days).

I think that you have to go with MSU. Michigan is always in the race for the national championship and msu always seems to make it in the tourney. Michigan hasn't even done well in the NIT the pas few years while state has still been making bowl games.
