lmao, sweetie, february is not the 'black ppls month'. On my calendar it does not say black ppls month and the rest of them say white ppls month. I am glad that black ppl do have a month of nationwide recognition, but since it is the shortest month WE as black ppl need to realize that black history should not be confined to any month. Is that to say we dont acknowledge or care about our history and situation the rest of the year? HELL NAH! Feb. is the governments recognition of black pride, which is cool, but BLACK people, themselves know that we live that pride every day of every year. Dont you?
Happy Black History Month brother, and next month Ill say "Happy Black Future Month"!!! but dont get it twisted, feb. is not "our month". If youre black thats a year-round recognition.

Every 4 years February has 29 days! Which is only 1 or two days less than any other month...even with just 28 that's just 2 or 3 days off any other month...I wanna know what you would have taught those other few days that wasn't covered the other days in the month? Sorry if this seems offensive, not trying to be, but let's be logical and not get our feelings hurt over something so silly as what month was made into Black History Month...let's just be glad that there was a month designated to the history of Black people.

Because a white man decided that February would be the month to celebrate Black History. A white man gave black people the shortest month.
When the hell are they going to have Native American History month or something- they were in the United States before even the white man- they don't have a holiday. What's up with that? They'd probably make black people share February with them- but only for leap year.
And I'm white by the way.

Well lets see I don't remember saying to myself this has been a great 11 months of remembering white people then saying damn we got to let the ****** out again thank god its only for 28 days. It is ******* 2007 stop crying about slavery, black oppression, and what ever else you want to ***** about. Did you ever think that maybe if black people(who by the way are the same as white people or any ****** color because we are only one race and that's human)would stop trying to single themselves out from white people our children(white or black)would be less likely to separate themselves and view everyone as equals.
Don't get me wrong not saying in 20 years we all will be happy but maybe just maybe eventually there will only be one race the human race.

I suppose this was meant tongue and cheek but a month is longer than any other ethnic groups who at best get one day
Italians... Columbus Day and the Indians hate that day it will go away soon
Irish....St Patricks Day....not a national holiday but a day everyone gets drunk
There is one for Presidents Day but that is for Lincoln and Washinton, both White
There is MLK Day in addition, another good day
Veterans Day, all vets all colors - no advantage
Labor Day... All creeds
Groundhogs Day - rodents have more days than most ethnic groups
Independence Day - Crispus Attucks was the first to die in the revolution....don't know who he is , look it up
So 28 days is alot since the Russians, English, Welsh, Scottish, German, Spanish, Greek, French, Slavic, Polish, Armenian, Croatian, Serbian, Hungarian, Swedish, Swiss, Dutch, and other very different groups who are grouped as "white" Don't have any days..
The Indians don't get any days at all and they were here first! Now that is a group that should be mad

Just a little newsflash for some people. "whitey" did not pick February!
You owe Black History Month to a BLACK man!!!!
He chose it to honor important figures to the black man, among which was Abe Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. The month of February also has some significant, historical value to black people.

HA! Would you prefer December??, January??
Come to think of it, January might actually be a great month for Black History Month
After all, MLK was born Jan 15, Kwanzaa ends Jan 1, etc.

What the hello kitty are you talking about.
Dude your just wining about the plight of the black man. You sound like my black brother in Law. We are the best of friends and I don't mind telling him when hes just bitching..
Everyone in America has an equal opportunity to excel. Its all about your choices. So don't give me this crap out my color this my background that. It has everything to do with who we are as people and nothing to do with what color we are.
After all your blood is just as red as mine..
Why don't white people have a month? You don't hear me crying.
