Soft boiled eggs - toast, no butter - applesauce - graham crackers - cream of wheat or maypo - if the stomach calms down try other breakfast foods like french toast or pancakes as well. Go light on anything too sweet, and plenty of water.

Any of the creamed soups are good, including tomato, cream of chicken, cheese soup, cream of mushroom, clam chowder, etc. It's a hot meal, nutritious and filling. Serve a bit of whole wheat bread or a bran muffin with it to give them the feeling of eating something solid. Half a peanut butter sandwich is a good accompaniment with soups, too.

For the sore throat, nothing soothes quite as well as a teaspoon of chilled honey. Just keep it in the fridge and let the child have a teaspoon every now and again to cool off that burning thrat sensation. There's no overdosing on that! Raw honey is far more healthful than store-bought. But any honey will do.

Yogurt or ice cream will also soothe that sore throat. Anything creamy and cold - and there is certainly no law against having a milkshake when sick.

Jello is a great food for sick kids. You can also get Pedialyte popsicles (lots of trace elements, and the kids don't have to know they're GOOD for them). A mild-flavored pudding might be good; ice cream may help to soothe the throat if your child can tolerate it. Orange juice may be somthing that your child would like, only if they can tolerate that; Gatorade is good if they can't quite handle juice yet. Be sure to give Tylenol for the headache (NO ASPIRIN!!!); it will also help if there's fever.

Poor babies... I know it's tough for them... I loved to spoile mine with juicy fruits like melons, soft well-cooked veggies, sorbets (instead of ice cream that is not always so good with a junky throat) and J-E-L-L-O. A lot has to do with presence... so I always did something to make the food kind of fun for them to take their mind off their misery... cut in special shapes or something cute it is served in and eaten with... for instance... I scooped out a round watermelon to use as a bowl for my son's Jello. No matter how old they get... they will always love being "babied" when they are not feeling well. Good Luck.
