I am not sure, though even if you do get permission from your doctor. Most tattoo artist won't tattoo a pregnant woman because of the liability.

The biggest issue I can see with getting a tattoo while you are pregnant is that your body is already focusing all it's energy into building the new life. A tattoo might not be much of an injury but it will take longer to heal and could give problems due to the fact that so much else is going on in your body at the same time. There is also the issue of skin being stretched if you choose to get tattooed either on or near your midsection (even on the back), breast or ankles due to swelling that comes with pregnancy. Plus most tattoo artists will not risk it

Yes there is a problem with getting a tattoo while pregnant. The greatest factor in it being harmful is the diseases such as hepatitis. it is toxic and can harm the baby.

Any stress that a woman undergoes can be bad for a developing fetus. It is unlikely, but possible that getting a tattoo could cause premature labor, or some other issues. People have been known to get infections after tattooing, and have been known to faint, or hyperventilate during the process. Also, womens weight tends to flucuate both during and after pregnancy. This could affect the look of the new tattoo on your new body. Its just a good idea to wait till you can focus on yourself alone.

It has nothing to do with the ink going into your bloodstream. The tattoo does not go that far down into the skin surface so ink doesnt get into your system

The risk is that you can get hepatitis B or C from a tattoo. Most states regulate tattoo parlors so that they have to use a new needle and equipment every time. If you know that the needle you're being tattooed with has never been used on anyone else or has been sterilized, then I can't imagine there would be a problem. But if the equipment isn't new or clean, then you are at risk of getting hepatitis B or C, just as you are when you're not pregnant. If you have hepatitis B, we can vaccinate the baby right after he's born to prevent him from getting it. But if you get hepatitis C and your levels are high when you go into labor, you could transmit it to the baby through blood contact during delivery and there is no vaccine or cure.

The main concern with getting a tattoo during pregnancy is the risk of contracting an infection, such as Hepatitis B and HIV. Although the risk is small, it is recommended that you wait to get a tattoo after your baby is born. You will be very interested to know that little information is available about the safety of skin dyes used for tattooing during pregnancy. It is possible that the chemicals in the dye may affect the development of the baby during the first 12 weeks, but the risks are unknown, as are any effects on the baby during the remainder of the pregnancy.

I'm not sure if it's okay. I would definitely talk to your doctor first and make sure if there is an artist who would want to anyway. There's always a risk of there being lead in the ink which isn't good for you even if you aren't pregnant. I'd talk to your doctor first. If it's okay...I would probably wait anyway since your body is changing and will definitely change and have to settle back to normal once you have your child.

no. tattooing opens your risk to getting Hepatitis B, which can be passed to your baby. Hep B can also show up at a delayed time after getting a tattoo....so if you've gotten a tattoo in the past year and haven't been tested, you might want to be.

good luck

No it's not, and if you go to a tattoo parlor they will ask you if you're pregnant. At least if they follow the rules they should.

The ink that they use goes into your blood stream. Then that same blood of yours goes into your baby’s body. Not smart.

You really need to wait. I'm sure you can

well I got one on my back right before I found out I was 3 weeks pregnant and I am fine, but there is always a risk of infection when getting one done so I would wait

my tattoo artist says NO. it's because with all the crazy hormones going through your body, the skin my reject the ink in some places... leaving you with an odd blotchy colored tattoo. even hair dye doesn't always turn out normal in pregnancy, so this doesn't really surprise me. and, of course, the risk of infection....

Probably not a good idea, as you increase the risk of being exposed to blood borne pathogens like hepatitis.
