Nothing personal, but I dislike that name. That's because I have never been a fan of names that sound "made-up". And that definitely sounds like a made up name. It doesn't sound very feminine either, and likewise I'm kind of boring/old-fashioned in that I like girls names to sound female, and boys names to sound male. Camarae doesn't really sound female or male. In fact, to me it sounds like "camera".
I've also never been a fan of parents going out of their way to take a "normal" name and spell it so crazily that no one will ever get it right, and the child will have to correct everyone forever. For example: Madusynn instead of Madison, or Kelleigh instead of Kelly. That's not the case with your daughter's name, but I just wanted to mention it, since it bothers me.
Anyhoo, NO you are not crazy at all. (Your family should try being supportive, rather than making you feel bad about yourself.) And Camarae is not a "bad" name. It's just not a name I like, and it's not a name I'd give to my child.

You chose a beautiful name that you loved and gave it to your child, that is all that matters!!!! I happen to name my son Turner (My maiden name) and my daughter Dawson(because I loved it), my family, like yours was less than thrilled, but my children have truley grown into their names as I am sure your daughter has done. Your family is wrong to ? your judgement, stick to your guns and keep remembering why you named your daughter Camarae! I am sure there is a beautiful story behind the memory.

I've seen that name before and I like it pronounced cam-ree better, but i also like Cam-a-ray. If she's five and you like it, then it shouldn't matter. Your family should be used to it by now.

If Camarae likes her name, that's all that'll matter in the long run.

If you like camarae, and she is five, why do you care if people like it. Your family should of got use to it by know.
If they don't like, are you going to change her name?
I hope not

it's a nice name .. sounds a little like cameron. Tell them it's none of their business to hate this name, and if they don't stop, when your child grows up, she might start hating it too, and the other kids will have something to tease her about. So when they disagree with her name again, tell them it's not healthy for the kid to do that.
Good luck ;)

I've never heard of this name before but I don't hate it. I actually think its sweet! If your family doesn't like it, too bad, they don't have achoice in the matter plus they can always give her a nickname - Cammie

It's a pretty name. Don't let anyone bother you. Everyone always has something to say. When i was pregnant with my first daughter. I wanted to name her Ambriel or Aubriel. But My %^&%^&%&* sister in law was like ewwwwwww..... so of course i changed it. But now i realize for what!! i later found out she wanted to name her daughter Gabrielle and it would sound too much like hers. I love names that are not common. It's a great name. don't change it.

It reminds me of camaraderie, which means a feeling of friendship. And that's not a bad thing :) I think it's pretty and if she's already 5, it's kinda late to do anything about it now. lol
