yep i am tired of that too. pushing ppl around on the internet is gay. ppl think that they can act all tough and strong on the internet just simply because they dont know who theyre talking to. or if they do, theyre afraid to come up and say it to your face. it happens on more than this website, however. chatrooms, AIM, etc. alot of ppl do it and it makes them feel "good" when in reality the person who is doing the pushing around feels like $hit, and it also hurts the person being bullied. basically all ppl who give ppl $hit on the internet get beaten by their parents or have no friends or something like that and it makes them feel "impowered." well im sure i speak for most people when i say cyber bulliers can $uck my left nut. not the right one, the left one, dammit!

I think that you asked this question to get after one poster in particular, and that really doesn't make you better than her. You're just encouraging her behavior. If you don't like what she's saying, don't respond it it. If you vote "thumbs down" on her response, it will be hidden and you don't ever have to look at it again.

That said...

I also agree that a lot of people are putting negativity into responses that really don't warrant it. Unfortunately the internet has made it even more possible for people to forget "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." I'm not saying people shouldn't be allowed to express their opinions - what I am saying is that it can be done in a polite manner, without cursing or pseudo-"you can't report this"-cursing. Intelligent, well-read people should not have to fling hastily typed insults at each other to feel good about themselves.

To quote Kurt Vonnegut: "Any reviewer who expresses rage and loathing for a novel is preposterous. He or she is like a person who has put on full armor and attacked a hot fudge sundae." That is how I feel about people raging at each other on this site. It is juvenile and just plain silly.

Are all answers that you get insulting? Then maybe you might want to rethink your manner of asking. (Was that insulting? If yes, excuse me. I don't quite realize what a know-it-all literary type of the negative sort is...) I've always had the impression that the answers in literature here were quite appropriate and mostly helpful.

I totally agree with you. I believe that people ask questions on this site for genuine help, in matters concerning publication of their work. I also believe that young peoples' minds need stretching and what better way than to attempt to write. Vitriolic comments from a self styled expert really do nothing for the young person's confidence. I notice the lady sets her self up as an expert on cats as well. I believe that there is no need for her attitude or her insults. She told me to go back to flipping burgers. For the lady's information I am an English retired business man and a published ,( not vanity as she is always going on about) author. I think it'd time she moved away from this site , if she has nothing constructive to say , better to say nothing.

Some people live to criticize others. They think it is funny.
Criticism has its place. If you are jOKing around with buddies it is ok...but when someone is truly asking a question and someone does not know the answer they just want point when they put an insult in the answer box.
Consider the source and just go on...they can not be helped.

Not all literary types are negative. At least I do no think so because I am of the literary type and I am not usually or always negative.

To the little darling who calls people Nazis elsewhere in other postings on this site, then comes here and tells everyone else that some literary type is being negative, I think we have a HYPOCRITE here, dear. And she is YOU! A whining little girl who when she doesn't get praise and someone doesn't kiss her little behind, she starts whining about it. When YOU or anyone else ASKS a question, then you MUST be prepared to deal with ALL answers, not just the ones that suit you and tell you how wonderful you are, and how you will become a famous writer just "cuz you wannabe a writer." And when someone gives YOU or anyone else advice, little girl, and it's SOLID advice from one in the KNOW (in other words I make money and have experience and you don't), then it is time to GROW UP and GLEAN what you can from someone with much more experience in the field than YOU seem to feel YOU possess. The LITERARY world is not one where you get praised for whatever you do or whatever you ask. It is a VERY ROUGH AND TUMBLE business that takes only the best of the best of the best (not a bunch of little amateurs). If what you want is constant praise and to be told how WONDERFUL you are every time you say "I wanna be a writer" then you go to your mommy and daddy so they can tell you you are wonderful. The literary world of REAL LEGITIMATE publishing would eat you alive, dear, and spit you out. And when you get out into the real world one day (not living in your little bedroom at mommy and daddy's house) you will find that there are all sorts of Nazis (chuckle) out there who are not going to kiss your naive little behind and call you a princess every time you burp! So before you start calling people Nazis as you have in other postings, I would clean up my act and not come here and act like some little innocent school girl who just wants all the mean old Nazis to go away. GROW UP! If you are indeed the mother of two teenaged son as she claims elsewhere, then I'm Beyonce! Your poor kids! Why do people like you reproduce? Rhetorical. God, what a Nazi and what crimes against Humanity!

You are, and I too don't understand why they do that. And for posting your question you'll probably GET negative, weird answers. But it's just rude, and I think it's getting old too. I just think that maybe some of the people here aren't mature enough to post answers that they would tell that person if they were talking to their face. They think- What the heck! We're on the internet, she doesn't know me in real life! So who cares!

Yes, I'm with you Adrian. Don't they realize their behavior on line is a good indicator of their personalities and intelligence? I as well as many others are always glad to help out with any questions or advice you may need. Don't let the ''little people'' of the world get you down!

It's a public forum, meaning that one gets "the public", good bad or indifferent. There are some folks who will take this seriously and try to give serious answers. Ignore those folks who you choose to.
