My Current girl friend with whom i stay 90% of the week with lives in an apartment with her ex-husband and his gay "friend". No body wants to terminate the lease cause it is too much of a hassle. She doesn't want to cause she doesn't want to hurt anyones feelings(she is way too nice). while he doesn't want to cause he is too lazy to go find another place. of course in the dc area rent isn't that cheap either. what to do!?!?!?!?

she should find a roomate to take her place and find a new place of her own. this way she isn't leaving anyone in a lurch and she is moving on with her life.

i would take an ad out in the classifieds for a roomie and just interview them and show them the place when the ex and other roomie aren't there. i'd also ask the property oweners if they have any people applying for vacancies that may be potential roomies. like, did a gal just apply for a single apartment, but maybe couldn't afford a single??
meanwhile, i'd be looking for my own place.

i think that'd be a win-win for everyone.

now, i do hope that you aren't being jealous or weird about this and she is fine with it.

if she is fine with living there and the situation isn't weird for anyone, then the only problem may be you and i would say "get over it or move on:)". i don't mean this to sound harsh....seriously.

so, she should find a replacement or you should get over the issue and not worry about it!!!

take care:)

The landlord shouldn't suffer because of a divorce.

With that said, how much longer is there on this lease? Couldn't she buy her way out of her 1/3. (There are three living there, so I can't imagine she is liable for more than 1/3rd of the lease payment.)

Are you staying there too?

Man up, get your own place and tell her to choose, your place or living with her ex.

She can easily buy herself out of the lease, usually this fee is between $300-$800 if you look hard enough into the small print of the lease, you will see this provision. Good luck!
