I read a text of a philosopher, Martha Nussbaum. She said that in India womans endure a sort of discrimination, for example:
1) there are sexual violences diffused in family context
2) there are a livel of illiteracy more high rather than mans
3) Womans are in bad sanitary and economic contitions rather than mans
4) Womans are little protected by justice

Is true that a dossier Onu in 1997 asserts that inequality between sexs are diffused in other parts of the world... But is evident that in India, like in the in phase of development countries , there are high livel of discrimination, about this.

I'm italian, and I want to know your opinion. With sympathy and friendship, Dodo. :-)

I Specify: the philosopher does not speak badly of India... India is only an example, of the state in which woman finds itself..

For executive= That one you said is true.
But I refer not to the politically, but to the society...
In Italy the politic situation is, like write you, badly... But in USA there are womans who cover important politic roles, for example Condoleeza Rice...

Dear friends, I understand that is difficult for you accept lessons. And I assure that is not my intention. But like Babatdk saids: is difficult understand the differences of conditions if we not touch with hand: I invite you to come in Europe (or Usa)... or study our culture, like I study your and other cultures... because the female condition in your country is determinated by poverty and effects of religion...
Between the things wich Zafarulla have listed there are concepts or visions life, wich are exceeded from much time in progressed countries...
Your is a county in phase of development...
You been going much strong, and I'm sure that when the poverty and illiteracy will be exceeded, then you will change gradually your point of view on many things...
You must be attention also on other themes: for example the discrimination on the homosexuals... it is not right.
However I love you and I admire your actually president. He is a very beauty person and a very clever men. Bye

I Itialian friend, u r absolutely right, every moment my heart cries because of this discriminatioin, 99% of the women here r utterly suffering because of this. She is suffering injustice silently, there are equality rights in the law, but who follows it, whos bothered, and the men take advantage, i hate men because of this, they feel women r week. In India a women cannot stay peaceful without marriage, if she dosnt marry she is not respected in her own house they treat her like door mat , when parents themselves are not supporting the female child, who will care her, i know one lady, who dint want a female baby , but she delivered a cute female baby, and the mother dint want to feed her milk, such is the status of women in india,. Thanks a lot for the courtsey u have towards women.

Indian females don't need anyone's sympathy. They are well protected by the Indian constitution. Small things are exaggerated by dirty politicians and enemies of the country. Indians elected Indira Gandhi as the prime minister of the country twice. Many senior police officers, IAS officers, Ministers, etc. are females. America or your Italy or many other countries not given a chance to a female to run the government. In India you can see many "Devi Temples" what the so called philosopher could not understand.

To understand a indian woman you need to be a part of india for a while. The philosphers have their own viewpoint. But the portrayal of an Indian woman by and large by this philospher has been negative.
You better be your own judge & get your encounters first hand and definately you will understand that we have the strongest woman force in the whole world in terms of love, compassion, patience, work and beauty.

The indian women are miles ahead of USA / Europe and you will agree to that working only cannot be a criteria for adjudicating superiority.

Women are treated equal to men in India.
Even it is said that worshipping God is not complete if your wife is not with you while praying. There are bad people in every society and India is no exception.
