You don't give any information about the type and size of sign but it apparently was an illegal sign or it wouldn't have had to be removed. I wonder if you had the proper permit for the sign before displaying it? It certainly is legal for a municipality to have a code for signs and Simi Valley seems to have a clear and easy to understand code.

If it was located in a place that caused a danger then it is legal. Say in blocked views of traffic, or people pulling out of you lot. I don't however agree with the visual part of it. Why do you have to move something just because others don't like it.....it your lot, and if it does not indanger anyone then you should not have to move it. I don't know how legal that part of their law is...I would talk to a lawyer if you truly want to fight this.

Depends on the nature of the sign- what is its purpose, how high is it, is it temporary, did you get a permit, is it an election cycle etc...

You'd think you actually had the right to do what you want on your own private property wouldn't you?

Most cities have codes to regulate the use of signs.

All commercial signage must be permitted. contact the city for permits and you'll be able to repost your sign, if it's within guidelines.
