seven YEARS?!! your case was grossly mismanaged, because even if he didnt show up for a court date, they should have issued a warrant for his arrest. he doesnt have to sign for the letter, because its sent by regular mail as well, and THAT one WASNT returned. and now he knows you wait years before trying again... so the way i see it you have one of two choices:
1) apply for welfare. as terrible as that may sound to some, when a single mom applys for welfare, most of the time the welfare system hunts that deadbeat down worse then the IRS.
the states and federal government are tired of parents not paying for thier kids, and what REALLY makes 'em mad is when they have to pay for them... soooo... they find the deadbeat.
2) reapply for your child support. even if they cant find him at this point, at least you have an open case for the following officials to refer to.
now while they are 'trying to find the father', you write one letter. in it you give your contact info, case number, his info, and the problem. ask what they are doing about it, because its been SEVEN years and you feel its been too long already. keep the letter short and to the point. tell them what you have said here about the case.
then take that one letter, and FAX it to the following:
1) your states Attorney General
2) your states Governor
3) your case workers supervisor
4) your Regional FEDERAL Child Support Office (link is below)
no phone calls, no regular mail, just FAX IT. you see, phone calls are ignored, dismissed, forgotton and yes, denied. mail ends up in stacks, but FAX's are proof you sent it, proof they recieved it. therefor, they HAVE to address it.
make sure you fax it to the director of the federal cs office (fax number is on the front page of the website (of your region, once you find it). all other fax numbers are usually listed online (they just try and hide 'em so you may need to dig for it). if all you can find is the number to your reps, call and ask for the fax number.
once you fax your letter wait a week. then call your Attorney General and ask what the status of the case is. he/she will tell you to call your case worker (then you do), what they have found out, etc. TELL HIM THAT YOU WANT LICENSE SUSPENDED, or WARRENTS ISSUED or something for petes sake. TELL HIM you know its a federal offense to run across state lines to avoid child support.
if you hear nothing, fax the letter again. once a week if need be. you see, its the sqeaky wheel that gets the oil, if ya know what i mean. so SQUEAK... and that will let them know you are NOT going away this time. seven years is out of control, and they need to address this deadbeat.
3) if at any time your caseworker or child support dept isnt on the ball, report them to the Attorney General, Governor and Regional Federal Child Support Office.... that will keep the dept on their toes more (well, at least in your case they will be more).
Todays courts dont play with deadbeats. if they suddenly are 'laid off' or 'fired' (thus not working), the courts calculate and income for them (they are onto this trick deadbeats try). if the court does nto calculate one for the deadbeat or enforce the child support laws, report them to your regional child support office and your states judical dept (again, ALWAYS in writing).
stand your ground and shove your foot up someones azzz to get the heat on the case. dont be nasty (be civil) but be firm.
here are some links. one is a child support calculator; just click on your state and fill it in. if you dont know his wages, put a minimum wage income in it. that will give you a general idea as to what will be ordered. some of the links you will need to click on your state and find the section you need (child support, visitation, etc). some are the laws of what the government CAN do to him if he doesnt pay. the last few are to help you.
save these links; they come in handy sometimes.

i had split up with my husband and i had all that info also.. i went to the local welfare department and signed up for cash aide for my son and the welfare dept went through the DA and had done all the child support for me.. when he didn't pay they suspended his license and then put an order to deduct it from his pay checks.. so either way if he isn't working you will still get money from state for help and the child support will back up until he pays it.. also on tv all the time there is a commercial that says u can go to there web site of childsupport.com or call them at 18003980500..
it said that they can locate the missing parent to pay...looks promising.

I don't know what state your in but in California with infor that you have they should've been able to track him down, mainly because you have SS number, because that number is use everywhere in the US. I know here that if you get one welfare they charge it up so if ever he retired they will make him pay all that he own on child support plus late charges, I can't believe the DA won't somehow help out. Unforturaly sometime you have to hire a private detcive.

My ex-husband hasn't earned one cent on his social security number since he left me, my 5 year old son and my 8 month old daughter. From what I've learned, you can't get blood from a stone. If he has no reported income, then there is no money for child support to take. If you find an answer, please update me....Sardonic94@cox.net. Good luck.

Hire a private investigator. A good one can find his current address quickly and without too much expense. Once you find him take him to court.
Tricia has some good ideas too but, having been through this for clients, those avenues usually do not bear fruit. Try them first and if not successful get the pi. Also, try www.anywho.com

Well I suggest going back to the cs office and refiling. Then go to his family members to track him down or try www.whitepages.com to see if he has a telephone and possible address. Try the post office to see if he has a forwarding address. Good Luck!

Have you tried talking to a lawyer? If you have the deadbeats social security number, they should be able to track him down. How about a Private Investigator??? I feel for you, I really do. My girls have a deadbeat father too.
