If your anti spyware programs are running at the same time as your anti virus, then this can sometimes cause things to run a tad slow, also if they are both active they might be working against each other, try turning them off one at a time to see what happens, but don't turn off your anti virus,or your firewall,if this doesn't work take a look at your firewall settings ,have a look at the help section and see if there's anything in there,as some firewalls don't always work with all isp's,ie AOL doesn't seem to like zone alarm but is fine with Mcafee.

changing browsers dosent speed up your internet by much, the reason for any reduced speed in internet connection and speed is normally the router(or modem)
i allways get a reduction in spped after around 3 weeks of the router being on,and theres a simple method of fixing this
simplysave any work and then turn off your router and then unplug it from the wall, then wait 30 seconds and then plug the router back in and turn back on
if your router has a wireless association button or something similar(such as a reset button) press this for 15 seconds, and then let go
the lights on your router will fluctuate and after 2 minutes they should all be lit
then try your internet again and you should see a vast improvement in connection and speed
i call this method a "cold boot" and it basically resets the router to its default settings.,so if you have a bt home hub you may need to re install your hub phones, but its a small price to pay for better internet speed
i hope this helps
good luck

Try deleting your cookies and temp. internet files. Open up the internet and go to tools at the top, click on it and go to internet options. click on it and when it opens up press delete cookies and delete files. That should make it faster. Plus, IE7 is slower than the one before it.
