Yes and tens of thousands of Americans would still have all of their limbs.

The only way 3114 Americans would still be alive is if Clinton would have taken out osama when he had the chance.

Instead he was worried about a stain on a blue dress.

Probably not. Did you realize that during the time the US has been in the war in Iraq, our country's mortality rate has actually gone down, not up. Now, if you look at the overall picture, we are losing less American lives than usual. Isn't it great how God can work things out for the good of them that love Him?

When I was stationed at the 101st, we would have a free day off if no one got killed in any accidents for 101 days. That was a rarity.

During our first Gulf War, our yearly loss average was a heck of a lot lower, due to the fact that the military always has a whole bunch of high-risk young adults that weren't able to go out at night and drink and drive.

I haven't seen the statistics for this war yet. Maybe sending some over saved a few of them kids, but who knows?

More soldiers died during Bill Clinton's 8 years in office than the six years Bush has been in office. The military is a risky profession, whether we are at war or not.

Sadly, statistics can be worded in such a way as to bring "shock" to a reader.

Yes, over 3,000 "warriors" lost their lives honorably by fighting for a cause. That cause is "FREEDOM!"

The Military Oath

"I,...do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." (Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replacing the wording first adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 October 1962).

But don't be deceived by those who say our issue with terrorists is wrong. If we don't continue our efforts as they are now...those who died on 9/11, died in vain. Those who died in Vietnam, in the World Wars, Korea, and our Civil War, died in vain.

Those who've fought and those who've given the "ultimate sacrifice" have done so that we can enjoy the "fruits of their efforts".......FREEDOM!

Once we became THE world's leading military strength, we also took the responsibility of insuring stability of those who've asked for our help.

Our government didn't just wake up one day and say lets go kill some terrorists....Terrorists woke up one day, after YEARS of planning, and decided to kill innocent men, women, and children. Not just in the US...but worldwide!

WAR IS HELL!" - General William Tecumseh Sherman (statement made in 1879) "War loses a great deal of its romance after a soldier has seen his first battle."

When public opinion in a democracy takes a stranglehold upon our politicians, their demise is the loss of their political ambitions. Let's face it....the politicians are not the experts on a field of battle yet they attempt to sway the outcome by interferring with those who ARE the experts.

The politicians "bang the war drums" and the military does the dirty work. Don't tarnish what those soldiers fought for........

FREEDOM!

Who cares. What about the 100,000's of Iraqi's killed. Your so shallow to only think of 3114 people.

A LOT more people would be alive if 9-11 had not happened. Not only those murdered on that day...but those who suffered and died from inhaling God only knows what in the rubble and clean up....plus the loss of life in the wars we have sent innocent people to.

No, there would be thousands more American lives lost if President Bush did not take the fight to our enemies.

Sad how so many people on Y think we are in Iraq to fight terrorism or in response to 9/11.

The numbers would be smaller but remember, many would have been sent to Afganistan.
