Sounds like a good idea. Going with them can't be any worse than the group that's running (claiming to run) the country now.

The problem with this is the same issue many third party candidates have had in the past. I would like to see a third party, yet there is a stalemate of power in our government, to there are a lot that would vote to prevent us from leaning to much to the right or left.

I would love to see a group start with taking local, and state seats before they go for the House or Senate. The last thing they should go for is the presidency.

Yet, a shorter route would be to try and find existing politicians who have a balanced view on today's issues. Get a group of these people to become part of the third party. An example would be something similar to the gang of 14. This would prevent the majority from pushing things to one sided through, or the minority from stopping things because they can.

I have not decided if I would join such a group, yet McCain / Lieberman would be good in either order.

I think Unity 08 should be a political party or alliance and support third party candidates that can run as a unity ticket (maybe Paul/ Tancredo for the LP/CP). Their main concern is about winning the Pres. election. But what will happen if they don't win? Maybe they should stay alive and become a strong party or alliance. Greens and Libertarians can agree on many issues, Constitutionalists and Libertarians too and Socialists with Greens. They should stand run in every race. Each race would have a unity ticket. Some states have fusion voting while others allow for a candidate to run for more than 1 party and have the party names next to the candidate (not like fusion voting where there are 2 or more party lines with the same candidate). Unity 08 can do well in swing states. However, they need money, unless our electoral system is reformed and we introduce instant runoff voting or some other system.
