Yes horses have nipples- or teats. Even male horses. Most foals will feed off of their dam until about 6 months of age- at this point most mares will wean their foal off of them, but some mares have been known to wean them off earlier and some even later. But even while the foal is able to feed off their dam they'll also start munching on their dams feed and hay during this time.

HAHAHA!!! That is great, I bet your friend also goes cow tipping and snipe hunting. Well he is very wrong. A horse does have two teats (or nipples) located between her hind legs. And unlike most animals that have 1 mammary gland for every teat, like cows, dogs, swine, etc. a horse has 4 mammary glands but only two teats. Just a bit of equine anatomy for ya there! Now go tell your friend he's an idiot!

A healthy foal should stand and nurse within 1-3 hours after birth. Thereafter a healthy foal will nurse once or more each hour, have a bit of a romp around and then will nap in between nursing bouts.
first milk from a mare is the colostrum. Colostrum is rich in sugar and antibodies. Foals acquire the majority of their antibodies, which the body uses to fight off infection, passively through ingestion of colostrum. Unlike humans, antibodies do not cross into the neonate's blood stream by crossing the placenta. Nursing shortly after birth also protects a foal from disease. A foal's intestinal tract is "open" at birth, this means that it readily absorbs large molecules from the gut into the blood stream.
So your answer is yes.

I was going to be supportive and say that no question is dumb, but I have seen some outrageous ones posted here.
But this one is NOT a dumb question. The other anwers are pretty good, and I don't think I can do any better, except to encourage you to always ask about something that interests you.
